Has anyone achieved real-time (no dropped frames) playback with CF AVIs or MOVs with HD-SDI output from CS5.5? I have not been able to achieve this with the same machine that has done exactly this for years in CS3. I can achieve real-time only on timelines without HD-SDI output (non-AJA sequences). While MOVs play smoother than AVIs they still drop frames and both require 3X the CPU load that CS3 does, and CS3 doesn't drop frames. Any setup suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you updated both the Aja and Adobe plug-ins recently? Aja just released an update that fixes many issues with CS5.5.

Yes, running the latest AJA 5.5 drivers.

Richard,
CS 5 and 5.5 have adaptive resolution playback. Have you turned the playback and paused resolution settings to 'FULL' from 'Half' in both the source and program monitors?
If you have, and you are still dropping frames, can you post more specifics of the system you're using?

No change in playback behavior with both set to Full. The machine is an Intel Q6700 CPU, 8GB ram, 4-ch SATA RAID 0 playback drive, Vista64 Ultimate. AJA LHi card. Windows & drivers up to date. Flawless CS3/Cineform/AJA integration, using about 20% CPU during playback. In CS5.5 CPU is 80%+ with dropped frames. Thanks for any advice, Thad

Can you get full frame rate with all your media players?
It smells a bit like a driver issue somewhere...display card drivers up-to-date?
Is there a CUDA card in it?

GOM and Media Player seem to playback all Cineform files fine, VLC can't decode. nVidia driver is the latest version. No Cuda card.

Yes...VLC doesn't play CineForm for me either...not certain why.

Hi,
did you solved your issue ?
I use AJA io-express and and playback is real-time inside Premiere CS5.5 and AJA driver 5.5.
But scrubbing the timeline is very slow, there is a delay for the image to appear on source/record windows.
There is also a delay when you clic on play and when the first image starts.
that is really annoying.
Cedric.
