Any recommendations for one of these to use with my Mac? The Lexar device recommended by CD seems out of stock at e.g. Amazon UK

Dear Ron,

The excellent Lexar Firewire 800 CompactFlash card reader is no longer availalble.

The Sandisk Firewire 800/400 card reader may still be available.

I checked a few weeks ago, and it was still available.

If you have an ExpressCard 34 Slot, then an ExpressCard 34 CompactFlash card reader is something you should consider, provided it works for your platform.

The only Sandisk I could find was on ebay. They were going for about $160. I bought a Lexar usb2 unit from B&H for about $30. I was surprised and pleased with it's speed.

I have the Sandisk.. firewire bought with the nano.. are they not being made anymore? is that due to USB 3 and thunderbolt? hope we can see some thunderbolt port card readers and HDD,s .. in the near future..

I'll stick with the USB reader that came with the nano - what's the point in saving 10 or 20 minutes for £100 plus? Might just as well get up half an hour earlier for free,

Ron

what about that one? - seems to be cheap and fast:

Lexar Professional ExpressCard CompactFlash Reader
Lexar Professional ExpressCard CompactFlash Leser: Amazon.de: Elektronik

There seem to be problemes with certain Macs.
I have a MBP Core 2 Duo 2,93
Ref. 5,2

Will it work?
