Hi all,
Just got a new MacBookPro (17" i7) and my .mov footage won't play in Quicktime 10, which surprised me as it is a .mov file. It states that I may need a software update of QT, however this is the most recent version so I am confused as to what to do. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks
Keith

What codec is your footage? You may be trying to play footage for which you do not have the codec installed. (The .mov file type ndicates a QuickTime file, but it does not tell you the codec.)

Hi Kevin,
It is XDCAM, however it is wrapped in .mov so I assumed that there would be no rewrapping or codec conversion required for playing in Quicktime. It plays fine on the old MBP in Quicktime 7.6.9. but won't play in the newer version of QT10.
Not really sure what to do, I thought that the point of the wrapping in camera was the ease of workflow between Apple's playback/editing software.
Excuse my lack of knowledge in this area, it has been a while since I have bought a new computer!
Thanks
Keith

The XDCAM codec comes with, and is installed with FCP, usually used to edit material on a Mac, it's also available from the Sony site for download / install. If you have FCP / FCE for editing you might also want to install Quicktime 7 as well as QT10.
