What do you think of the Rode NT6 (http://www.rodemic.com/?pagename=Products&product=NT6) for video? Interesting design.

Michael Wisniewski August 20th, 2005, 06:35 PM What do you think of the Rode NT6 (http://www.rodemic.com/?pagename=Products&product=NT6) for video? Interesting design. Dave Largent August 21st, 2005, 12:01 AM That mic must be really knew. I don't know why you'd really need it to be in two pieces like that. Can anyone foresee what situations this would be suited for? Michael Wisniewski August 21st, 2005, 01:57 AM Well for one thing it would make your boom really light. Same for mounting it on a camcorder. And it would be pretty easy to hide on a podium or a planter box/couch. You could even hang it fairly easily from the ceiling. It also contains a pre-amp which is a nice bonus. Ty Ford August 21st, 2005, 05:39 AM Rode appears to be trying what Schoeps and Neumann have done in years past. The capsule separated from the power supply. When you see The Three Tenors sing live, you usually see the Schoeps version with the long thin stiff shaft instead of a cable. Very unobtrusive compared to a standard mic stand and mic body. The video directors like it because it's so hard to see (come together, right now, over me!) Sorry, couldn't help myself. I'm on vacation and friday was my birthday. Good for using as a plant mic. Good for lightweight booming if it's a good hypercardioid. A regular cardioid woldn't work very well. Ty Ford |
