Tony Davies-Patrick June 2nd, 2011, 10:51 AM Great capture, Dean! It is a very unusual head-on view that adds impact. I'm not sure if slowing the frame rate would add or detract from the impact of the strike. At normal speed it almost looks like it was made from digital enhanced footage/artwork rather than reality filmed with a GoPro. Dale Guthormsen June 15th, 2011, 08:49 PM Dean, Pretty cool raptor shot. Now is this a territorial strike at you and your camera, or is it baited somehow? I shoot raptors all the time, looks like a goshawk strike almost (other than they come through the trees wicked fast and hit you). Mark OConnell June 18th, 2011, 05:40 PM Cool. I agree with Tony though that it looks a little unreal. Maybe part of it is the lens distortion. So you set the GoPro on the beach and put a piece of fish in front of it and just waited? Chris Barcellos June 18th, 2011, 10:32 PM I slowed it down for a kick in Vegas Dean Sensui June 18th, 2011, 11:54 PM Dean, Pretty cool raptor shot. I shoot raptors all the time, looks like a goshawk strike almost (other than they come through the trees wicked fast and hit you). This was a scrap piece of fish on the beach in front of the GoPro. The slightly odd look is probably due to the fast shutter speed the GoPro uses to adjust exposure. Dean Sensui June 18th, 2011, 11:55 PM BTW, the dirt flying up at the end of the shot reminds me of some of the debris flying in "Saving Private Ryan". |
