If the camera operator is shooting the shot, can the director see the shot also via the video out tap to an external monitor at the same time? Or will the LCD screen go dark because there is a feed going to said other monitor? This question goes for both cameras as I'm researching to buy either or. Thanks in advance.

LCD goes dark on 60D if you're using external monitor.

Really? That's weak. Shame on Canon. Thanks Zhong!

I think it's more a limitation of the camera's processor, more so than them just leaving the feature out.

If you have an android tablet you can get the "dslr controller" this gives two displays one on tablet and also on lcd screen.

I use a SmallHD 4" monitor with HDMI loop throughs to another HDMI monitor. I look at the SmallHD, and then either a 7" Jag35 monitor for focus or a 20" HDMI for the director.. Works great.
