Uh, the old xboxs (the one you bought) have supported 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i since launch. Although you'd be hard-pressed to find many games that go beyond 480p (which is still WAY BETTER than 480i), and the ones that do often dropped framerates at times with a lot of action. Anyway, HD support is old news for the 360 and the original box, the REAL news is that pretty much every game will be developed for at least 720p, which is awesome!

You need a special adapter (about $20) that puts out component video and digital audio. And then you can find all of the info on a per-game basis on sites like this one:

I agree about the HD games, but didn't know about the HD output. I bought the component i/o for my HDTV. It's nice!

Anyone know what processors they're using in the Xbox 360? The PS3 allegedly uses PowerPC (aka, the G3-5 series that Apple Computer uses) and I've heard they can run Mac OS X on it.

From what I've read, both the xbox 360 and the new playstation are using a new generation of PowerPC chip that is much more powerful than the g5 and anything currently running in any PC (including the Athlon 64 chips). As far as Mac Os, that will be running on Intel chips about this time next year. Many are saying these new boxes will be the first that are actually faster and more powerful then high end dedicated desktop PCs for gaming. It will be interesting to say the least.

I didn't see it on that link, but I believe that the 360 supports 2 HD monitors, not just one.

I'm hopeful that moving gamers to HD will help bring the set cost down....
