Does anyone have any experience with the new Arrilite 750 Plus? The biggest difference is that it uses HPL (High Performance Lamp) bulbs instead of DXX bulbs used by Redheads. I'm interested in buying two open face lights and the new Arri looks very tempting however I'm worried about the price of the bulbs & availability likewise a more reliable bulb like the HPL sounds great. Any thoughts?

I haven't used them, but if the life expectancy is what they say here, it'll be cheaper in the longer run than the DXX lamps.

Although if you get 3200K lamps the life could be shorter than the 3050K longer life..

The big difference between the Arrilite 750 Plus and a Redhead is that the Arrilite 750 Plus uses the patented ARRIMAX reflector. The unique ARRIMAX reflector creates diverging parallel rays to produce a crisp light with even distribution through a wide spot/flood range. The result is a lens-less open face fixture with an output greater than that of a Par, and with the light distribution of a Fresnel. To see how crisp the light output of the ARRIMAX reflector is, see my write up on the Arri 1800W Baby Max HMI at ScreenLight & Grip E-Mail Newsletter - Use of Portable Generators in Motion Picture Production (http://www.screenlightandgrip.com/html/emailnewsletter_generators.html#anchor%20arri%201800).

Guy thanks for the link to your write up, very comprehensive & informative. You response is well-timed I actually decided to order two Arrilite 750 + lights yesterday.
