Please, I am looking for advise. BHphoto is running a special on the Bogan 3181 legs with the Bogan 503 for $ 479.95. I have the Canon XL-1s with 1.6 tel. I will probably up grade to XL2 with 20x, 14x manual and 3x wide. Is this a good set of legs and head? I do a lot of field work. Bob

Bob,
The outfit sounds pretty good. The 503 head will be fine for the XL camera. The legs, as I found them on line, are heavy duty but no center column. Others can advise on this, but I like a center column with adjustment.
Good luck!

I like the 503 head. Make sure you stay away from the 501! As far as tripods go, I tend to like ones where the legs do a full spread so you can get just inches off the ground.
