So I've been shooting my weddings at 30p since I started, because 60 looks too video-ish, and I always thought it might be strange to document an event at 24p, even though i'm going for a cinematic wedding film, and not a documentary style. What is everyone's opinion on what FPS to shoot at for doing cinematic wedding films?

I've seen in both 24 and 30. Shot well, it doesn't matter. Shot poorly and it doesn't matter. Whatever you feel is aesthetically pleasing is the frame rate you go with IMO. Or whatever sells if you are making money.

Personally, I sometimes can't tell the difference between the 2. It all depends on how it was shot I suppose.

I've been driving myself (and many others) crazy trying to settle this for myself. I finally settled on not shooting 24p -- for the main reason that I don't like the jittery quality with a lot of motion. I'm shooting in 60p, because it'll be taken down to 29.97 when transcoded for DVD, and because I can make great-looking slomo if necessary.

Plus, I've really come to believe that 24p is dying. I wrote a blog post on it yesterday if anyone is interested.

The main reason I shoot at 24p is so I can use 1/50 sec shutter speed which lets in a hair more light. What shutter speed do you use when you shoot 60p?

I usually won't stray from 1/60, which is the slowest I can go at that frame rate.

I am just now struggling with understanding which is best myself. Indoor low lit churches and receptions seem to need any extra help with light as possible, but when you go outside to shoot glidecam shots this changes. Then filters are the necessity if want to stay at the same settings for editing.
