Hello everyone - new to the forum here. I just had my account activated to post - I've been lurking for quite sometime and truly think this is an amazing place to get info on cameras from the "pros."

I'll jump right in - I'm looking at buying an nx5u very soon. We have been shooting bowhunting DVD's for the past 6 years and we are making the switch to TV and HD and I have some questions about accessories to use on the camera.

1. extra battery - are there any aftermarket batteries that work well?? Or am I best suited for a Sony battery to make sure I can last a while in the woods? Most aftermarket batteries are 7.4v, and not 7.2 like the standard that comes with the camera?? What "mAh" should I get??

2. Is there a specific UV filter I should get or would a standard from Amazon work fine ($25.99)?

3. What are your thoughts on a rain cover? I think I like the CamRade the best, but haven't ever run this camera yet...

4. Are there any specific camera bags you would recommend that are reasonably priced?? The Kata case is around 120.00 on Amazon...??

5. Seems like if I'm going to go with a wireless mic and don't want to spend more than $400, the Sennheiser ew100 G2 is the way to go??

6. What about a light? Will this light work well: Sony HVL-20DW2??

7. Lastly - as far as SD cards go, it seems Transcend class 10 sdhc 32gb work fine??

Thanks for all the help - I'm sure I'll have many more questions on settings once I get this fine beauty!

i dont have that camera but like you im looking at either HXR-NX5U or the ax2000 haven't decided if the extra $500 is worth it.

but i can answer the question on the light. its VERY bright so in a dark situation it will do well

I have the AX2000 and as far as accessories I purchased a Rode NG1 Shotgun mic, I use transcend 32 Gig class 6 cards that work flawless, I originally purchased a 970 Sony Battery that gives me over 8 hours of continous charge, I also bought a off brand one which in my experience is equal in every way to the sony one but less than half the price....
I recently purchased a Impact wide angle lens and a 7" Marshall Monitor, I also use a Tiffen UV filter.
When filming on the go I use a Monfrotto 560B Monopod as well as a spiderbrace 2...I basically have spent way to much on accessories but thats half the fun..
