I've kind of been bitten by the "DIY" bug lately, so yesterday I made 4' camera slider. Parts were less than $50 and it took me just a few hours to make. I made a webpage for it on my site and a little how-to vid

cool. Thanks for the vid.
What keeps it from tipping on the tripod when all the camera weight is on one end?

Brian, I not your comment about using light stands. I have a monopod I always carry, so another way to go would be to fashion a way to mount on your regular tripod on one end, and your monopod on other end, there by reducing amount of gear needed.

Paul, I just have a little 7D, so it's not enough to want to tip over the rig... but it does get a little shaky at the ends.
Great tip, Chris. I'll try to incorporate the monopod idea, thanks.
