Thanks for getting this up, I check this site everyday for info and feedback on the 7D.

To download and install, or wait a few days and see if there are any glitches.

Aloha!

I am running on version 1.1.0 if I update to 1.3 does it autmatically upgrade 1.2?

Yes, as far as I know whatever the latest firmwire you up date to, will include the previous updates.

I am extremely underwhelmed .... My 7D will remain on the shelf I think.

I waited in the hopes Canon would address obvous shortcomings or at least some user complaints that firmware could fix - but I doubt they will arrive now. Even a histogram in video mode would make me pick this up again....

exactly, histogram and manual sound is about all that would keep me from jumping ship from canon and moving over to their competitors

I already moved - just gnaws at me that the two items you mention would not cost anything to add... so where is Canon's motive? I now they have been bombarded with requests.

The idea that you "almost' make a camera perfect goes against their marketing creedo that why should they when it would slow down products sales for the next camera that may fix the shorcomings!

Bruce - I am on the fence waiting.

I shot a doc for the last 12 mths in China using the 7D with very mixed results. While it was great to move fast and light, the 7D was a pig to use and when I got back last month I sold it immediately with all my small frame lenses!! I did this as a small protest in my lapse in judgement. I will keep my L glass just in case the 5III is worth getting.
However, currently I have a GH2 with some 4/3rd Olympus lenses and I love it - but it will never be my main camera.
I am between films, so it's not a worry at this point. I am waiting for the FS-100 right now which I will buy for sure. I come from the EX1 and EX3 but hated the size and form. Now the FS-100 looks great - small size in 35mm!
When the Epic-S arrives that will be my choice - until then its FS-100 all the way.

Yes it is.

If I need a camera now I would go for the Sony F3 but the FS-100 is less than half the price with almost no difference in image, so I am waiting!
It feels like the Red's will never get released.... in reality the Epic-S will be at least a year away I think.

So FS-100 is a great stop gap for me. In a small format shape yet it beats any image from a DSLR inc 5D!
