i know this has been answered earlier but i still dont think its clear, can someone enlighten me without techno jargon, using the f3 with the gemini at 444,
Question does the F3 need the upgrde by sony to enable the use of the Gemini at 444 or is it possible to gain the 444 raster out of the SDI..
thanks in advance

Ben,
Welcome to DVinfo.
Without the RGB & S-LOG upgrade, the best output you can get from the F3 is 10-bit 4:2:2.

Dear Ben,
The Gemini 4:4:4 will also record the very popular HD-SDI 4:2:2 10-Bit video.
Thus, the unit will work very well with the Sony F3 with or without the upcoming firmware upgrade.
Our Gemini 4:4:4 will also record HD-SDI 8-Bit.
I hope this helps.

When is the Gemini supposed to hit the streets?
Thanks.

The Gemini is scheduled for release in July.
Sony will start making the firmware upgrade available by summer. I've been told they may not require you to send in the camera to Sony, but dealers (like us) may be provided the upgrade for customer convenience. Details are still uncertain.

Dear Friends,
We originally planned to start initial shipments by the end of July 2011.
Due to multiple reasons, we now plan on starting shipments in August.
1. We wanted more time to finish the firmware and test the unit.
2. We wanted more time in case the tragic conditions in Japan affect us more than expected.
3. We want the unit to work extremely well when we release it, thus some extra time would allow us to do more testing.
