Gotta shoot a pickup shot, an ECU of person's face looking a river at sunset. What's the best way to get that kind of illumination that comes off water, that kind of ripply effect. I can't get down to river to do this, only got 30 minutes in dressing room. Was thinking maybe a light through a fish aquarium, but then thought maybe light bounced into aluminum foil underneath face, moving the foil around slowly.
Anybody got any ideas?

I did something like this once with a wide bucket of water reflecting light. Just stir the water and you'll have a natural effect. Hope this helps.

Moving crumpled silver mylar sheet works pretty well.

On Largo, we had a similar situation - our SFX guy came up with a fast, cheap and easy rig - he took a large, shallow plastic pan, put several fragments of broken mirror on the bottom, filled it with water, and bounced a light off the whole thing. The mirrors gave nice, bright speculars, and by kicking the side of the pan, he made waves. I thought it looked truly cool!
