So I've been using this simple setup to record my interviews and I can't figure out why the volume is so low?
azden wms-pro vhf wireless mic
Amazon.com: Azden WMS-PRO Wireless Microphone System: Electronics
zoom h1
Amazon.com: Zoom H1 Pak Portable Digital Recorder With Accessories Bundle and Headphones: Musical Instruments
I set my H1 to record in 96khz/24bits, level to 100. I sync it up in post but I have to boost the volume levels in FCP. It gets really tricky when my interviewees are soft speakers. I suspect it is the azden wms-pro's fault, getting volume between -24db to -12db in a quiet small room can't be right. Or maybe I should switch to the H4n?
I still feel relatively new to DSLR video production so solutions or suggestions would be appreciated!
