I shot a video with a 70-200 lens from a balcony and noticed that some of my video has the table on stage looking like it's sloping off of horizontal. I've not been back at my office yet but figured I could correct this with the pan control for the clip.....correct? or is there a better way.

That's how I've always done it - go into pan/crop, and use the rotate option... is there another way?

Thanks Dave!! not until someone else chimes in.....I've just never used the Pancrop deal to do that. Thanks!

Pan/Crop is what I use but remember once you straighten it out you need to resize the clip a bit to get rid of any edges that fall off. Little bites. :-)

Thanks Don,

Gonna be a lot more concious of the tilt while filming next time. Art of Beer was the event and I was sampling while I shot! :-)

Well since it was the "art of beer" you might be OK leaving it slightly off kilter! ;-)

This sounds like lens distortion coming into play. Sure, try p/c, but maybe a more global approach like a distortion FX may just correct the issue, and keep it looking organic.

Pan/Crop and Track Motion can both rotate. If you have camera distortion, is it a Fisheye look? NewBlue has a fisheye correction tool that may help you if that's what it is.

Hence my feedback. Let's hear from Harry. Rotation won't correct that type of distort. The clue was in the reference to 70-200 lens.

The rotate corrected the obvious sloping of the table. There may have been some distortion too but there was a table on the stage and it needed to at least look somewhat level. It's the videographer I think more than the lens.
