I do not have inside knowledge, but the below press release leads me to believe that no new camcorders will be announced. With the end of the XL line I was expecting something new but the earthquake may have changed that. Hopefully I am wrong.

Less than a month after one of the worst possible disasters, it's good that they are even showing up! Rumour has it that Sony cancelled several product releases scheduled for NAB, and is still trying to recover, I'd be shocked if the other Japanese manufacturers were not struggling under the circumstances.

I don't think Canon typically shows new cameras at NAB anyway. If you look at previous NAB's Canon has not shown new cameras. They typically show off new broadcast lens options at NAB which is what they are doing this year as well.

I'd say there's no new video cameras coming from Canon. They just released the XF100/105 and the XA10.

I guess the interchangeable lens model for the 300 series everybody thought would surface one day has been pushed into the future or not at all. Although when you think about it, there are not very many (1/3" chip) lenses to change to other than still lenses for wildlife shooters.

Well, for those of us waiting for the hoped for MarkIII, this statement doesn't bode well:

"Also on display during the show will be the new Technicolor CineStyle for the Canon 5D Mark II, a custom picture style which provides cinematographers with the image latitude for digital intermediate color-grading and delivery."

It's quality of the built in lens that keeps the HD broadcasters happy using the 300 series A more general 1/3" zoom lens may not have the tuned setup with the sensors.

I do think a new camera is coming and it will be a large imager machine.

It'd be nice if you were right Chris. A 1/2 or 2/3" chip design would be nice!!

Yeah, no big news on the camera front, but Canon now has a new line of PL mount lenses. I asked one rep about future cine lenses with an EF mount, and she said, "draw your own conclusions."

If Zeiss can make EF-mount CP.2 lenses, and Canon makes PL-mount lenses, one has to wonder when EF cine lenses from Canon might occur.

Unfortunately, I doubt that they'd be in my budget, even if they did exist today...

Could be Canon assumes that in that market, people might get the camera modified to take PL mount lenses. You can't use these zooms on FF35, while you can use the CP2, so the market is larger for the EF mount Zeiss CP2s than the Canon zooms with that mount.
