Is that a movie quote? If so, I'm guessing it's from the LOTR trilogy.

If so, I'm guessing it's from the LOTR trilogy. well gandalf said it in fotr. so i suppose its a movie quote. lol Terry Lee June 13th, 2008, 08:20 AM Next quote? Dale Stoltzfus June 13th, 2008, 08:35 AM Sorry, guys! Here's a quote that'll be pretty hard to get, so I'll give a hint right up front - it's from a Cisco Kid movie from the '50's. Character 1: "Talk Engish; we can't understand you!" Character 2: "How I can talk English when you CHOKE it out o' me?" Casey Krugman June 22nd, 2008, 02:22 PM Got nothing.... Dale Stoltzfus June 22nd, 2008, 04:38 PM Hmmmm.... that I see. Well, I'll just say: it is The Girl from San Lorenzo - a Cisco Kid movie made in 1950. Someone else just go ahead. Kelly Goden June 23rd, 2008, 12:54 PM "Ed, visions are worth fighting for. Why spend your life making someone else's dreams?" Paul Tauger June 23rd, 2008, 04:07 PM "Ed, visions are worth fighting for. Why spend your life making someone else's dreams?"I don't know this one . . . but Ed Wood. ;) Kelly Goden June 23rd, 2008, 07:27 PM I don't know this one . . . but Ed Wood. ;) ** What gave it away!?! ;) "Number one: I want the movie to end with a biiig explosion!...number two, I got a son. He's a little slow, but a good boy and something tells me he would make one helluva leading man." Lots of great lines in it. All yours: Paul Tauger June 23rd, 2008, 11:22 PM Okay, a little obscure but probably easy: 1 - Remember, men, no matter what they do, don't talk. 2 - What if they torture us? 1 - Just don't talk! 2 - Can we scream a little? Matt Buys June 25th, 2008, 09:12 PM I know I've seen this one. Is it a movie with Bill Murray? Paul Tauger June 26th, 2008, 01:24 AM I know I've seen this one. Is it a movie with Bill Murray? You're on the right track, but, no. Hint: Bill Murray was a little boy when this film was made (that's when I saw it). Jonathan Jones June 28th, 2008, 11:48 PM It sounds like something like "Road to Morocco" or something. Is that in the right ballpark? -Jon Paul Tauger June 29th, 2008, 12:02 AM It sounds like something like "Road to Morocco" or something. Is that in the right ballpark? -Jon Bill Murray isn't that old. ;) Try something in between your guess and Matt's. Jonathan Jones June 29th, 2008, 12:10 AM B Try something in between your guess and Matt's. Okay, not that I remember a scene in which your quote would be an exact fit, but I'm gonna guess "No Time for Sergeants". -Jon Paul Tauger June 29th, 2008, 12:17 AM You're getting close. Time for a clue: It was a Peter Sellers film. Mike Meyerson June 29th, 2008, 08:22 AM The Mouse that Roared. Here's one for you guys... "I am the Nightrider. I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller!" Jonathan Jones July 14th, 2008, 11:39 PM The Mouse that Roared. Here's one for you guys... "I am the Nightrider. I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller!" This is stagnating, but I didn't comment on it because I can't quite place it. The image that keeps coming to mind is from "The Road Warrior" but the quote I keep thinking of is "The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla", but I can't remember more of the specific quote and otherwise cannot accurately guess the source of the current quote. -Jon Mike Meyerson July 15th, 2008, 06:56 AM This is stagnating, but I didn't comment on it because I can't quite place it. The image that keeps coming to mind is from "The Road Warrior" but the quote I keep thinking of is "The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla", but I can't remember more of the specific quote and otherwise cannot accurately guess the source of the current quote. -Jon it's not the Road Warrior...but you're REALLY close. Chris Hurd July 15th, 2008, 07:10 AM Ah so, it is from "Mad Max," which came several years before "Road Warrior." I much prefer the original version to the one dubbed over with U.S. voices (sheesh). Can't believe this one sat unanswered for two weeks... stand by by for your next quote! Mike Meyerson July 15th, 2008, 07:18 AM Ah so, it is from "Mad Max," which came several years before "Road Warrior." I prefer the original version to the one dubbed over with U.S. voices (sheesh). Stand by by for your next quote! ding-ding-ding....we have a winner. Mad Max it is. Jonathan Jones July 17th, 2008, 10:56 PM I much prefer the original version to the one dubbed over with U.S. voices (sheesh). I prefer the original to the dubbed one also. Mad Max would have been my next guess, although it would have only been a guess. It has been so long since I've seen this film that I couldn't really place the quote. -Jon Chris Hurd July 19th, 2008, 08:13 AM Better late than never -- here goes: "We can die here... or we can die in that thing. What's the matter? Haven't you any curiosity left? Wouldn't you like to know how it feels to fly a... toy airplane?" (maniacal laughter ensues) If you know this, also name the speaking actor, and name the actor being spoken to. Matt Buys August 4th, 2008, 08:28 PM This qoute has been bothering me along time. At first I thought it was from Toy Story. But now I'm half-thinking it might actually be from Mad Max or the Road Warrior. I keep thinking of that skinny guy with the bad teeth, pet snake, and whacked out grin who flies the ultralight. Am I even close? Jonathan Jones August 4th, 2008, 10:59 PM Better late than never -- here goes: "We can die here... or we can die in that thing. What's the matter? Haven't you any curiosity left? Wouldn't you like to know how it feels to fly a... toy airplane?" (maniacal laughter ensues) If you know this, also name the speaking actor, and name the actor being spoken to. I saw this post a couple of weeks ago and didn't have a clue - but then the forum alert brought me back to the thread to have another go. From what I know of Chris, it is likely from some great classic older film that has since fallen from most folks' radar - and I couldn't even begin to guess - so instead, I'm just going to guess "The Mummy" with whatshisface. In the scene where they're trying to get that guy to fly them somewhere.....or was the "The Mummy Returns" or whatever that was called. -Jon Chris Hurd August 5th, 2008, 07:06 AM Sorry, not The Mummy or Mad Max... it is indeed a great classic older film, with major stars in the cast and a couple of Oscar nominations. Before it became a movie, it was a best-selling novel by a prolific English writer (the film is American though). There's a major clue in the quote, but I'll offer another line or two later tonight if nobody gets it. Also of note, production of this film was marred by a particularly unfortunate tragedy on the last shooting day, resulting in a dedication during the end credits. What happened, and to whom? Josh Chesarek August 5th, 2008, 10:13 AM The Original Flight of the Pheonix. A pilot died trying to simulate the take off at the end. I do not know more than that off the top of my head. IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059183/trivia) offers more though of course. 2 points for renting the older version of a movie on netflix thinking its the newer one only to find that you like the older one. Chris Hurd August 5th, 2008, 08:00 PM You're the winner, Josh -- but you didn't take me up on the follow-up challenge in my original post: "also name the speaking actor, and name the actor being spoken to," and that would have been Richard Attenborough, to Jimmy Stewart. And trust me, the 1965 original (directed by Robert Aldrich) is far, far superior to the recent remake. The stunt pilot was Paul Mantz, a legendary Hollywood aviator. Here's a little more about the accident that took his life: http://www.check-six.com/Crash_Sites/Mantz-P1.htm -- I recall reading his biography as a teenager... he was quite a guy. Your turn, Josh! Josh Chesarek August 6th, 2008, 04:49 AM This certainly does not qualify as a classic... "Its a bread maker... it has 3 speeds!" Steven Koernig August 7th, 2008, 07:27 AM Will Ferrell in Old School And I completely consider that a classic. "I want you to remember this face here, okay? This is the guy behind the guy behind the guy." Charles Papert August 7th, 2008, 10:31 AM Swingers--and I consider that a classic too! "Do you ever get the feeling that there's something going on that we don't know about?" Charles Papert August 9th, 2008, 08:02 PM Uh oh, looks like I brought this sucker to a screaming halt. Uh--here's another quote from the same movie. "You going to eat that sandwich?" Matt Buys August 25th, 2008, 06:11 PM Charles, I think I've seen this in the last few years. For awhile I was thinking it was your Balls of Fury but netflix proved me wrong. Can you give us a hint? Is it under or over five years old? Benjamin Hill August 26th, 2008, 06:44 AM Diner (1982) ------------------ "Who dares to tow the van of the living Christ?" Nick Vaughan August 26th, 2008, 12:43 PM Is that 'The Dream Team?' Benjamin Hill August 26th, 2008, 01:29 PM You got it- guess I threw a meatball. All yours. Andy Graham October 3rd, 2008, 11:44 AM Theres not been one in a while so here's one for you..... "I've decided what to do with my life. I wanna be a cleaner." Andy. Jonathan Jones October 3rd, 2008, 11:52 AM Theres not been one in a while so here's one for you..... "I've decided what to do with my life. I wanna be a cleaner." Andy. Piece of cake. The line was spoken by Natalie Portman's character in "The Professional" (as titled in the US - known by other titles in other parts of the world.) -Jon Chris Hurd October 3rd, 2008, 11:55 AM Got that one sitting on my DVR somewhere -- thanks for reminding me about it! The ball's in your court, Jonathan... Andy Graham October 3rd, 2008, 12:58 PM lol didn't think it would last long, it was called "Leon" over here in the UK Andy. Jonathan Jones October 5th, 2008, 01:32 PM Here is the next one: "It's alright, he's just killing my alligator bags and shooting holes in my suit. Man, that's just mean. That's just MEAN, man!" -Jon Andy Graham October 5th, 2008, 03:34 PM Great Film......it was Payback . and another one, "It must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays" Andy. Julian Frost October 5th, 2008, 03:41 PM That would be Dent, Arthur Dent (as in, the Late Dent, Arthur Dent) in The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A truly terrible movie, but a truly inspired radio series and book series. Casey Krugman November 13th, 2008, 10:54 AM Well... It's been a month... Lets try this one... "There is an old saying... Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present..." Recent Film too. Lorinda Norton November 14th, 2008, 03:44 PM A shot in the dark: The Bucket List? Casey Krugman November 17th, 2008, 03:22 PM Try Again Grasshoppers... *hint* Casey Krugman November 19th, 2008, 11:28 AM How about this for a clue.... "You will never be the dragon warrior, until you lose 500 pounds and brush your teeth!" Noel Lising November 19th, 2008, 12:39 PM would that be Kung Fu Panda? ( grasshopper, 500 lbs (panda)) Casey Krugman November 19th, 2008, 03:49 PM You're up! Noel Lising November 20th, 2008, 08:35 AM Here it is: "It's a hell of a thing, killin' a man. Take away all he's got, and all he's ever gonna have." |
