Jonathan Jones April 6th, 2008, 03:28 PM I never saw the film, but from having seen the trailer, I'm gonna guess "The 40 Year Old Virgin". -Jon Terry Lee April 6th, 2008, 08:49 PM I never saw the film, but from having seen the trailer, I'm gonna guess "The 40 Year Old Virgin". -Jon No but thats a really good guess given that he rides a bike everywhere. Terry Lee April 6th, 2008, 08:53 PM Ok hang man it is! _ _ _ _ _ _ this should be easy... Jonathan Jones April 6th, 2008, 09:22 PM No but thats a really good guess given that he rides a bike everywhere. Okay, after I read your response, it just popped into my head. I SO KNOW this one, though I guess I shouldn't be proud to admit it. Is it, "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" ??? The scene is early in the film after the run-in with Francis, and the line is spoken by Francis in reference to Pee Wee's date with .....Dottie...I think. -Jon Terry Lee April 6th, 2008, 11:23 PM nope...not Pee Wee's Big Adventure. But a very good guess :) Alot of people I talk to have not seen this movie and I have no idea why. Chris Hurd April 6th, 2008, 11:36 PM Hmm... I *think* I've seen it. Pecker? Kent Frost April 6th, 2008, 11:36 PM The movie be HOT ROD Terry Lee April 7th, 2008, 12:38 AM DING DING DING!! The movie is indeed Hot Rod. Clip below :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssBcAg3ZFwQ Terry Lee April 7th, 2008, 12:40 AM Hmm... I *think* I've seen it. Pecker? I've never even heard of Pecker.. is it an older movie? Chris Hurd April 7th, 2008, 07:54 AM Pecker is a 1998 John Waters film starring Edward Furlong, Christina Ricci and Bess Armstrong: http://imdb.com/title/tt0126604/ As usual, I was totally out to lunch mis-matching your quote to that movie... Slowly backing away... Terry Lee April 7th, 2008, 02:43 PM As usual, I was totally out to lunch mis-matching your quote to that movie... Slowly backing away... were you going on a date?? :) Movie sounds good, I'll have to rent it. Casey Krugman April 17th, 2008, 10:56 AM Post A New Quote!!!! Chris Hurd April 17th, 2008, 03:04 PM Kent's delay has unfortunately forfeited his turn. So here's a dead-easy giveaway just to get the ball rolling again. The winner needs to post a new quote challenge with 24 hours. Here we go: "Is this Heaven?" "No. It's Iowa." Mike Teutsch April 17th, 2008, 03:09 PM Field Of Dreams Sean Skube April 17th, 2008, 04:01 PM Or else what? Field O' Dreams EDIT: Mike, you beat me to it! Mike Teutsch April 18th, 2008, 08:02 AM Looks like Chris is busy and probably returning from NAB, so I will assume I was right and post a new one to keep the flow. I'll make it pretty easy: The main characters were Sean Connery, Mark Harmon, and Jack Warden. Jack Warden' character says, "Listen man, I screwed up.....................I'm gonna make things right." Mike Sean Skube April 18th, 2008, 09:01 AM The Presidio Mike Teutsch April 18th, 2008, 09:32 AM The Presidio Told you I would make it easy! Your turn and we are back rolling again. Mike Sean Skube April 18th, 2008, 10:18 AM the names of the actors is what gave it away for me. here's one of my favorite movie quotes ever! "I know we've only known each other four weeks and three days, but to me it seems like nine weeks and five days. The first day seemed like a week and the second day seemed like five days. And the third day seemed like a week again and the fourth day seemed like eight days. And the fifth day you went to see your mother and that seemed just like a day, and then you came back and later on the sixth day, in the evening, when we saw each other, that started seeming like two days, so in the evening it seemed like two days spilling over into the next day and that started seeming like four days, so at the end of the sixth day on into the seventh day, it seemed like a total of five days. And the sixth day seemed like a week and a half. I have it written down, but I can show it to you tomorrow if you want to see it." Nick Hiltgen April 18th, 2008, 10:47 AM "the jerk" Steve martin. Awesome! Sean Skube April 18th, 2008, 11:06 AM absolutely Nick Hiltgen April 18th, 2008, 11:58 AM OK I'm watching this one right now (again) hopefully this quote hasn't been used yet. 1: "Well I guess I jsut gotta.. gotta love you and let go, hmm?" 2: "well I guess" 1:"Well, I ain't askin' what you gonna do when you get out, cause I'l be dead and it don't matter" Josh Chesarek April 18th, 2008, 06:13 PM OK I'm watching this one right now (again) hopefully this quote hasn't been used yet. 1: "Well I guess I jsut gotta.. gotta love you and let go, hmm?" 2: "well I guess" 1:"Well, I ain't askin' what you gonna do when you get out, cause I'l be dead and it don't matter" What is Cool Hand Luke? Nick Hiltgen April 19th, 2008, 09:14 AM DING DING that's right, your turn. Josh Chesarek April 19th, 2008, 03:10 PM DING DING that's right, your turn. Just watched this on netflix.. "Listen to them... the children of the night. What sweet music they make. " Jonathan Jones April 19th, 2008, 03:26 PM Just watched this on netflix.. "Listen to them... the children of the night. What sweet music they make. " piece of cake. That one is taken from "Bram Stoker's Dracula" from 1992. Spoken by Gary Oldman. The quote is almost identical from Bela's delivery from 1931 with a word or two added. -Jon Josh Chesarek April 19th, 2008, 03:33 PM piece of cake. That one is taken from "Bram Stoker's Dracula" from 1992. Spoken by Gary Oldman. The quote is almost identical from Bela's delivery from 1931 with a word or two added. -Jon Play on! Your turn! Jonathan Jones April 21st, 2008, 04:23 PM "Apparently, none of you have ever seen a new teacher before." That's it. It's a short quote and the first line spoken by this character in the film. I can add a few more lines from the scene if not guessed quickly enough. I tried to find a workable line that would not be too easy to cheat with via Google. -Jon Josh Chesarek April 21st, 2008, 04:27 PM "Apparently, none of you have ever seen a new teacher before." That's it. It's a short quote and the first line spoken by this character in the film. I can add a few more lines from the scene if not guessed quickly enough. I tried to find a workable line that would not be too easy to cheat with via Google. -Jon Dangerous Minds? Dale Stoltzfus April 21st, 2008, 04:31 PM Blackboard Jungle? Jonathan Jones April 21st, 2008, 04:44 PM Nope. Neither Dangerous Minds, nor Blackboard Jungle. -Jon Chris Hurd April 21st, 2008, 04:46 PM The Faculty? Jonathan Jones April 21st, 2008, 04:48 PM The Faculty? No, sorry. -Jon Dale Stoltzfus April 21st, 2008, 05:07 PM I'm sure I've seen that movie - the quote sounds really familiar! Was the character a man or a woman? Chris Hurd April 21st, 2008, 05:33 PM Poitier, in To Sir With Love? Jonathan Jones April 21st, 2008, 06:49 PM Poitier, in To Sir With Love? A valiant guess..... but an incorrect one. Keep 'em coming. I'll add more lines or a hint in a few hours if not guessed by then. -Jon Josh Chesarek April 21st, 2008, 06:53 PM I can only help but try another obvious title, The substitute Jonathan Jones April 21st, 2008, 10:35 PM I can only help but try another obvious title, The substitute No, not the substitute. Time for a hint. The character who speaks the line I quoted earlier (it is his first line in the film) is certainly one of the focal characters in the movie, but not necessarily the main character. So I can head a few other guesses off at the pass before they even get posted. "Stand and Deliver" ? No "Lean on Me"? No "Freedom Writers" ? No OH, I KNOW....IS IT "DEAD POET'S SOCIETY" ? WOW !!!!!! ...... NO ! Uggggh. Okay,... um ... "The Emperor's Club" ... "Mr. Holland's Opus" .... that "Summer School" movie with Mark Harmon?.. No, No, and No. AHHHHH. Freakin' "Harry Potter and the somethin somethin"?????!!!! No, dude. Chill out. breathe. The film includes an ensemble cast, but the quoted character is a focal character, the quoted scene is in a classroom, and there are a few classroom scenes in the movie. And...no...I'm not using something as obscure as the classroom scene early in the "Eddie and the Cruisers" film in which Tom Berenger quotes Wordsworth, nor the intermittent classroom scenes from the Indy Jones films. The classroom scene from which I quoted is also an important and almost pivotal scene from early in the movie that thus far has not yet been guessed, and for which I may offer additional quotes tomorrow. -Jon Jonathan Jones April 21st, 2008, 10:41 PM Oh, and by the way, its not "School of Rock" either. just so ya know. -Jon Josh Chesarek April 22nd, 2008, 02:34 AM All right then. Since you took my other obvious guesses...(but forgot The Principal w/ J. Belushi) Maybe you should just be nice and Pay it forward so Hunt can go to AA and Spacey can get his Handicap parking pass? (if its not Pay it Forward........) Jonathan Jones April 22nd, 2008, 08:19 AM you should just be nice and Pay it forward ) Ding Ding Ding We have a winner. It is indeed "Pay It Forward". Nice going, Josh. Johnie, tell the man what he's won. (Announcer voice) Josh, you've won...... the next turn at bat. (applause) Your turn. -Jon Josh Chesarek April 22nd, 2008, 08:31 AM "What can't you say in front of mom?" Jonathan Jones April 22nd, 2008, 09:10 AM "What can't you say in front of mom?" "Goodfellas" ? -Jon Josh Chesarek April 22nd, 2008, 09:42 AM "Goodfellas" ? -Jon No, but a good try. You are in the right area. Jonathan Jones April 24th, 2008, 11:25 PM No, but a good try. You are in the right area. Is it "The Godfather Part II" ? -Jon Josh Chesarek April 25th, 2008, 01:10 AM Nope. Here is another hint. Son: What ya cooking ma? Mom: Beer Son: Oh.. with Noodles! Was a movie in the 80's Jonathan Jones April 25th, 2008, 01:32 AM Is it "Wiseguys" with Piscopo and DeVito? -Jon Josh Chesarek April 25th, 2008, 02:20 AM Is it "Wiseguys" with Piscopo and DeVito? -Jon Nope, Think Comedy/Parody Of Ganster Mob *Hello from Bistol UK Airport.... Flight delayed for 30 minutes... I hope that is all... |
