Keith Loh August 17th, 2005, 03:38 PM "Elephant Man"? Dimitri De Keukelaere August 17th, 2005, 03:51 PM yep its elephant man :-) just watched the scene in sin city where i thougt marv said that but it wasnt :-) and so I realised it probably was elephant man so next question keith Vince Crabb August 17th, 2005, 04:52 PM Dimitri, Platoon wasn't the flick I knew that quote from. It was a 2001 movie starring Charlie Sheen, called "Good Advice". I suppose, though, since Charlie starred in Platoon 5 years earlier, he could have included it in this one for whatever reason, IF it was actually from Platoon to begin with... So, I guess I see how this game is really played now... Dimitri De Keukelaere August 17th, 2005, 05:46 PM hehe im sorry but it was my day off today and i couldn't stand the wait because it took to long for somebody to guess it so i slipt and said it was correct. but hey its just a game. you know what if its my turn you can give the quote if you want sorry again :) Chris Hurd August 17th, 2005, 06:23 PM Well, somebody give a quote, because I'm itching to get in on this. Vince Crabb August 17th, 2005, 06:41 PM OK, well then, I'll try another that's hopefully a little easier... :-) "...because it's not my god damn planet, monkeyboy!" Mike Teutsch August 17th, 2005, 08:40 PM The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimention? Mike Vince Crabb August 17th, 2005, 08:48 PM Mike! You da man! (bonus points will be given if you know what actor gave that line, and his characters name in the movie) Just kidding...it's your turn now! Mike Teutsch August 17th, 2005, 08:56 PM I cheated and looked that up after you asked, but, Christopher Lloyd as John Bigboote. May this will be a little more obscure, but I'll probably give too many clues: Mr. Dallas asks, "What does exto gamat mean?" Vito Cornelius replies, "Never without my permission." Go! Mike P.S, I have to quit playing this! Vince Crabb August 17th, 2005, 09:06 PM Well I won't hold it against you for cheating to get the bonus points Mike. And your quote is from my 2nd all time favorite movie... Mike Teutsch August 17th, 2005, 09:08 PM Ya I know, I love it! Mike Devin Eskew August 18th, 2005, 01:27 AM I cheated and looked that up after you asked, but, Christopher Lloyd as John Bigboote. May this will be a little more obscure, but I'll probably give too many clues: Mr. Dallas asks, "What does exto gamat mean?" Vito Cornelius replies, "Never without my permission." Go! Mike P.S, I have to quit playing this! Is it the Fith Element? Great movie!!! Mike Teutsch August 18th, 2005, 06:06 AM Devin, You got it man! What a great movie! Next. Mike Sean McHenry August 18th, 2005, 08:48 AM Since a question isn't on the table, here's one. Should be easy. "Is it safe?" Sean McHenry Dylan Couper August 18th, 2005, 09:13 AM Sorry Sean, but it is still Devin's turn. Devin, we are waiting for you! BTW, "Is it safe" is from Marathon Man, so if Devin doesn't show up by this afternoon, it is my turn. :) Maybe we should make a time limit on how soon you have to get back and post a new question... Devin Eskew August 18th, 2005, 10:33 AM Thanks sorry for the delay. Here you go! "I don't want to sell anything, buy anything or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold or bought." Devin Eskew August 18th, 2005, 10:38 AM Since a question isn't on the table, here's one. Should be easy. "Is it safe?" Sean McHenry Actually I would have guessed Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. Michael Gibbons August 18th, 2005, 10:59 AM Thanks sorry for the delay. Here you go! "I don't want to sell anything, buy anything or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold or bought." "Say Anything" Devin Eskew August 18th, 2005, 11:16 AM You are correct sir! By the way hello from Greeley! Barry Gribble August 18th, 2005, 12:40 PM "Say Anything" Funny Funny... just arrived from Netflix today... one of those films that had passed me by all these years... Michael Gibbons August 18th, 2005, 02:08 PM "Say, are you giving me the treatment?" Chris Hurd August 18th, 2005, 03:32 PM That's from a Preston Sturges comedy. It's either Veronica Lake to Joel McRea in "Sullivan's Travels," or it's Claudette Colbert to Rudy Vallee in "Palm Beach Story." I can't remember which is which because I just saw both of 'em on TCM not too long ago (as did you, I assume)! Chris Hurd August 18th, 2005, 03:36 PM No, wait! It's Bacall to Bogart in "To Have and Have Not" -- dang black and white classics! I can never keep 'em straight in my head! Michael Gibbons August 18th, 2005, 04:52 PM Hmmm, Not any of those, anyway, that I know of, but it is possible. Classic: yes B&W: no Chris Hurd August 18th, 2005, 05:01 PM *slapping forehead* D'oh!! Vince Crabb August 19th, 2005, 06:25 AM Looks like you've stumped everyone Michael. Not even one incorrect guess in the last 12 hours... Michael Gibbons August 19th, 2005, 08:29 AM I'll give a hint. There is an important character in the movie named "Robbie". Chris Hurd August 19th, 2005, 09:12 AM Aha! Forbidden Planet. Leslie Nielsen to Anne Francis, if I'm not mistaken. Michael Gibbons August 19th, 2005, 09:34 AM Aha! Forbidden Planet. to Anne Francis, if I'm not mistaken. It is Forbidden Planet, but it is the xo, Jerry to Anne Francis, right beore the Captain(Leslie Nielsen) busts them. It's a treaditional holliday movie at my house, and that sequences always gets a laugh. Chris Hurd August 19th, 2005, 09:57 AM Heh... I would have checked it first except to say that shamefully I don't have this on DVD, only on VHS which is buried somewhere in one of several boxes out in the garage. It is one of my favorites of all time, and we never get tired of watching it over here. So is it my turn or do blown attributions count against? Dylan Couper August 19th, 2005, 10:03 AM So is it my turn or do blown attributions count against? It's your turn, you only need the movie to win. Getting the characters right is jsut for bragging rights. Chris Hurd August 19th, 2005, 10:13 AM Okay, well then here's another stumper for you. Heh. He: "Meantime, by authority of the Federal Communications Commission, and the grace of a kindly Providence which gave me the power of not having to listen to people, I am now going off the air." She: "Don't you dare take that thing off, I haven't finished talking to you!" Christopher C. Murphy August 19th, 2005, 10:53 AM Is it Network? Or is it Broadcast News?? Chris Hurd August 19th, 2005, 11:19 AM Nope, but I can tell you that it's from a movie from 1965 that was remade less than a decade ago. The quote is in the original but not the remake. But I think you'll still need another hint. Christopher C. Murphy August 19th, 2005, 10:32 PM I think that I need another hint. lol Dylan Couper August 20th, 2005, 12:32 AM Chris, I had this great idea that I'd just browse through all the films listed in IMDB for 1965 and look for something that was remade. It has 3000+ listings. I got bored at "Bad Girls Go To Hell". Was it Bad Girls Go To Hell? :) Chris Hurd August 20th, 2005, 09:07 AM Heh. I knew nobody was gonna get that; and I've hijacked this thread long enough, so here's another clue for you... it's a Walt Disney movie. Mike Teutsch August 20th, 2005, 04:26 PM Heh. I knew nobody was gonna get that; and I've hijacked this thread long enough, so here's another clue for you... it's a Walt Disney movie. Man I have researched and reasearched. This is a tough one. The only one I can come up with is, "That Darn Cat." (1965 & 1997) I can't find the line of course. Maybe? Mike Chris Hurd August 20th, 2005, 05:49 PM You can't find the quote because I checked first, and it's *nowhere* online (except for here, now, of course). Indeed, "That Darn Cat" is it; the original, not the 1997 remake. It's a Disney movie about sex, of all things! He is Wilbur MacDougall, played by William Demarest, and she is Kipp MacDougall, played by Elsa Lanchester. The very next line is "Goodnight old woman. I can't hear what you're saying, but whatever it is, I disagree with you one hundred percent!" Another other great line from "That Darn Cat" is also courtesy of William Demarest: Mrs. MacDougall: I distinctly heard a woman scream! Mr. MacDougall: Right, and if you don't get away from that door you're gonna hear another! Okay, I've hijacked this thread with mundane obscurities long enough. Your turn, Mike! Mike Teutsch August 20th, 2005, 05:52 PM Wow, Ok, now I have to think of a good one. I tend to make mine too easy. Standby, Mike Mike Teutsch August 20th, 2005, 06:03 PM Ok, maybe this will be a little harder than my usual. Mrs. Wilkinson: "Find a place on that bloody wall and focus on that spot. Then whip your head 'round and come back to that spot. Prepare!" All right---go! Mike Chris Colin Swanson August 20th, 2005, 06:22 PM "bloody" indicates an English movie and Mrs. Wilkinson comes up as a character in "Billy Elliot" which is an English movie. I would thus have to guess that it is indeed the movie "Billy Elliot". Mike Teutsch August 20th, 2005, 09:46 PM "bloody" indicates an English movie and Mrs. Wilkinson comes up as a character in "Billy Elliot" which is an English movie. I would thus have to guess that it is indeed the movie "Billy Elliot". Ok, I've got to go even more obscure! Yes, Billy Elliot, and if you have not seen it, you need to. Just as a reference, Titanic won 11 Oscars and its IMDB rating is 6.9. Billy Elliot IMDB rating is 7.7, and this is a must see movie. Next time, no mention of the characters name. It' all yours Chris. Mike Chris Colin Swanson August 21st, 2005, 04:57 AM Alright! I Got one! I think this game needs to have both obscure and fairly easy quotes. If this were the television show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" this quote would be around the $200 question. "One of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this: never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line." I bet this goes quick. Dylan Couper August 21st, 2005, 08:27 AM "One of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this: never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line." The Princess Bride. That whole movie is quoteable! Finally I got one. I'll put mine up right away.... #1: "Yeah, well, I'm a victime of circumstance!" #2: "I though you called it your pecker..." Mike Mathieu Ghekiere August 21st, 2005, 06:47 PM It's really funny to see this game, you guys really can't wait untill the next quote :-D I understand it though, but still very funny Mike Teutsch August 21st, 2005, 06:56 PM It's really funny to see this game, you guys really can't wait untill the next quote :-D I understand it though, but still very funny I will admit that this is another form of addiction, but it is a good one. Don't know if anyone else on this forum has ever heard of it, but I play NTN trivia. It is a trivia game that is played in about 5000+ locations in Canada and the U.S.. I have been playing for years and love to be challenged. It keeps the old brain in shape. You really learn a lot. Keep it going! Mike Dylan Couper August 22nd, 2005, 12:10 AM tremors ? kevin bacon with fred ward in the car You got it! I'll pick something from Tremors 4 next time. :) |
