Hmmm, any hints Michael?

Michael Rowe
October 23rd, 2006, 10:42 AM
It's a pretty long film (229min) with a fantastic score by Ennio Morricone--I could 'watch' this one with my eyes closed again & again....

"Kid stuff...."

Dimitri De Keukelaere
October 23rd, 2006, 11:35 AM
"once upon a time in america" ?
It's the only long movie I know for which Ennio made the soundtrack

Michael Rowe
October 23rd, 2006, 08:14 PM
You got it Dimitri, take it away!

Dimitri De Keukelaere
October 24th, 2006, 04:58 AM
Ok here it goes

One of my favourite movies

"You know what you should do? Do a little more f***ing and a little less eating, so you don't have to blame it all on me and everybody else, you understand me? You're cracking up! Ya' f***ing screw ball ya'!"

should not be so hard to guess :-)

Mathieu Ghekiere

Raging Bull?

Dimitri De Keukelaere
October 24th, 2006, 09:18 AM
that's right Mathieu.

your turn ;-)

Mathieu Ghekiere
October 24th, 2006, 09:30 AM
Okay, so now my quote:

"That is our tragedy: butcher's hands, and gentle souls."

Mathieu Ghekiere
October 25th, 2006, 03:49 PM
Nobody?
Should I give a hint?

Barry Gribble
October 25th, 2006, 04:43 PM
I'm stumped.

Mathieu Ghekiere
October 25th, 2006, 06:40 PM
Okay, I'll give a hint, I'll confess I didn't make it very easy.

It was an oscar contender for Best Movie 2006.

Mathieu Ghekiere
October 28th, 2006, 03:47 PM
I thought my hint was going to give it away, so here's the answer:

Munich

Now, I'll hope you guys will have an easier time on this one (now I picked something easier, to not make people desperate)

"What does you diary tell you that it doesn't tell us?"
- "It tells me that goose-stepping morons like yourself should try reading books instead of burning them."

Okay, so this one should be really easy.

Jonathan Jones
October 28th, 2006, 03:57 PM
I never saw Munich, so I never would have gotten the earlier one, but I'll bite on this one:

I.J.& the Last Crusade.

I believe the line was spoken by Connery.

Mathieu Ghekiere
October 28th, 2006, 05:18 PM
Yep, you're right, your turn!

Jonathan Jones
October 30th, 2006, 01:23 AM
Oaky, I think I've got a good one. Might be a little tough if for those who haven't seen this movie, but for those who have, well, it is a movie that served as a vehicle for some very different dialogue.

Here is the quote:

"And yer just so much toilet water decoration."

Think 'elvis'. That's a hint.

Sean Gillane

Bubba Ho-Tep?

Jonathan Jones

Right on, Sean.

Your turn.

"So I looked in my concordance, and I found out that Paul used the word THEREFORE over 119 times in his writings!"

THEREFORE being somewhat of a clue. Good luck.

Hints upon request.

Andy Graham

I request a hint.

Sean Gillane
November 4th, 2006, 12:42 PM
the film is from 1981.

it's a documentary.

Sean Gillane
November 7th, 2006, 01:57 AM
Ok, ok. So maybe it's a little more obscure than I thought... I pass the game along to the next willing quoter.

Chris Colin Swanson
November 7th, 2006, 02:48 AM
you can't just pass it along without telling us the name of the documentary! That would be evil!

Jonathan Jones
November 7th, 2006, 12:33 PM
Well, Sean, curiosity got the best of me....so I cheated. Yes, this one is pretty obscure, and it probably would have taken some time to get the answer (without cheating).

Your quote comes fromt the film "Vernon, Florida". I've never seen it, nor had I heard of it, but after reading up on it this morning, I just might buy it, as it might prove a handy inspiration I will be working on next spring.

As far as the game, I would suggest that you are still at bat and should have another go.

Here's the windup....and the pitch.

You're on.
-Jon

Sean Gillane
November 7th, 2006, 03:19 PM
Yeah, that's correct. I'd definitely suggest checking it out if you haven't seen it.

Here's a new one:

"That weapon will replace your tongue. You will learn to speak through it. And your poetry will now be written with blood."

Good Luck!

Thought I'd try resurrecting this game with an answer: Dead Man

Barry Gribble
December 23rd, 2006, 09:56 PM
Not sure if Sean is still around so I checked... Dead man is correct. Your turn :).

Michael Rowe

"It's not about winning or losing. It's not even about how we play the game. It's that we play the game."

Jonathan Jones
December 30th, 2006, 12:21 AM
"It's not about winning or losing. It's not even about how we play the game. It's that we play the game."

Just a shot in the dark on this one:

Hoosiers.

that's my guess.

-Jon

Fletcher Kasmer
December 30th, 2006, 08:42 PM
hmm, i dont think so, the big hoosiers quote was:

"If you put your effort and concentration into playing to your potential, to be the best that you can be, I don't care what the scoreboard says. At the end of the game, in my book, we're gonna be winners."

this one is too corny, almost fake, i'd put it in something like BASEketball or dodgeball, exept i know it wasnt in either of those... how about "bad news bears"

Sean Gillane
December 31st, 2006, 02:30 AM
Sorry about not checking back for an answer. I did for awhile and then thought everyone had given up. But yeah, Dead Man!

Michael Rowe
January 4th, 2007, 12:20 AM
That's OK Sean....I haven't checked back for an answer since last year ;-)

Sorry but it's from none of the above. Ready for a hint?

Barry Gribble
January 4th, 2007, 08:00 AM
Hints are good.

Michael Rowe
January 4th, 2007, 11:33 AM
It's from a movie involving a football team....if I tell anymore I'll give it away so let's leave it at that.

Michael Rowe
January 15th, 2007, 12:19 AM
OK, this one's getting a little crusty so here's a second hint: this movie is still up at your local theatre.

Anyone?

Barry Gribble
January 15th, 2007, 09:04 AM
I think you're way ahead of us on this one Michael...

Michael Rowe
January 15th, 2007, 03:18 PM

Forgot about this.

Here you go...
You can't shoot me! I have a very low threshold of death. My doctor says I can't have bullets enter my body at any time.

Alex Sprinkle
February 5th, 2007, 10:40 AM
I was actually just reading about this movie, as I didn't know the new one was a remake, and I was reading some of the funny stuff from it. This was one such line. Movie? Casino Royale!

Mike Horrigan
February 5th, 2007, 11:26 AM
Well done! The floor is yours...

"It's just black people demeaning other black people, using that word over and over. You ever hear white people callin' each other 'honky' all the time? 'Hey, honky, how's work?' 'Not bad, cracker, we're diversifying!'"

Mike Horrigan
February 6th, 2007, 08:06 AM
For some reason I can hear Chris Rock saying that line.

In really have no idea though...

Alex Sprinkle
February 6th, 2007, 10:09 AM
I can see that too, but no. Time for the hints to start rolling in, yet?

Andy Graham
February 6th, 2007, 11:45 AM
menace to society?

Alex Sprinkle
February 6th, 2007, 11:47 AM
No, I never saw that. Any good?

Down from Heaven or whatever... oh wait no down to earth

Alex Sprinkle
February 6th, 2007, 10:50 PM
No. This movie is actually pretty popular (to my understanding).

Willis Petti
February 7th, 2007, 11:43 AM
I think it's that movie crash, the one that won the best picture last year.

I think it was Lorenz Tate that said it. he was the same guy that was in menace to society.

Am I right or going out of my mind?

Mark Bournes

Isn't it from Pulp Fiction? Samuel L. Jackson talking to Travolta?
