Oh come on people! Here's a hint: The actor who says it was in The Illusionist and grew up in Columbia MD.

Barry Gribble

Fight Club?

Ben Winter

Right on! Your move...

Barry Gribble
September 22nd, 2006, 01:07 PM
Sorry guys... been in production all week. Here you go:

"TV... it changed the way we think -- forever. The first time they stopped the game because they had to cut to a commercial was the end of it. "

Andy Graham
September 22nd, 2006, 05:05 PM
The running man ?

Barry Gribble
September 22nd, 2006, 09:08 PM
Nope. About a decade off.

Barry Gribble
September 24th, 2006, 04:28 AM
The line was delivered by Al Pacino.

Marvin Emms
September 24th, 2006, 08:06 PM
Any given sunday?

Barry Gribble
September 25th, 2006, 03:59 AM
That's the one... your turn.

Marvin Emms
September 25th, 2006, 05:01 AM
Ok, in the spirit of the last quote, I'm going to break a rule. I'm going to quote instead from a TV show that changed the way I think.

"What is truth? Tell me if you think you know... and I will not believe you."

Dimitri De Keukelaere
September 25th, 2006, 10:03 AM
"the x-files" ?

Marvin Emms
September 26th, 2006, 01:11 AM
Its not, but that was an excellent guess.

I'll drop the clue this is an animation.

Barry Gribble
September 26th, 2006, 04:51 AM
The Simpsons?

Marvin Emms
September 26th, 2006, 05:13 AM
I didn't make it that easy!

Barry Gribble
September 26th, 2006, 06:04 AM
Yeah, OK, well I'm out of animated TV shows that I know anything about, so I'll sit back and watch :0. But I really heard it in Homer's voice as I read it.

Marvin Emms
September 26th, 2006, 06:28 AM
Sorry Barry, not how I meant it. Simpsons is the defining animated show for more than a decade, theres virtually nothing they haven't done. I knew if I quoted from them it would be guessed in about 10 seconds. I hope I've not made this too obscure.

Marvin Emms
September 27th, 2006, 01:25 PM
One more hint and if it hasn't been guessed tomorrow I'll try a quote from a movie!

It was made into a live action movie released last year, where they discarded everything except the charectar names.

Animated series.

"What is truth? Tell me if you think you know... and I will not believe you."

Marvin Emms
September 29th, 2006, 06:55 PM
Series was, "Aeon Flux"

Without a doubt the most disturbing and subversive program to ever be on after childrens hour in the UK and lead to a movie that discarded every single important aspect.

The truth was too obscure, so I'll try lies.

A film, the english translation (big hint) has the following...

"All words are lies. Pain doesn't lie."
"Only pain and suffering will show you who you are."

Marvin Emms
October 1st, 2006, 08:01 PM
About the first hour of this is a gentle sort of what could almost be a simple love story. Its been likened to a John Hughes film up until this point. The rest, rather isn't, in the same way a train wreck is not entirely like a train ride.

Marvin Emms
October 5th, 2006, 12:02 PM
I'm quite dissapointed noone got that, I'd have thought a lot of people here would have seen it.

"Audition" (1999) Takashi Miike.

One last attempt and then I'll hand the rains over to someone else if noone gets it.

"I'm an escaped mental patient with a history of violence."

Jonathan Jones
October 5th, 2006, 12:17 PM
Okay, that one is frighteningly sychronistic. Just a short while ago, a buddy and I were watching a lousy movie on tv called "Couch Trip". This got us talking about an older movie called "Crazy People", and pretty soon, we were talking about how much we loved "The Dream Team" with Michael Keaton...which is also the answer to your query. An excellent film with very memorable moments.

Marvin Emms
October 5th, 2006, 01:26 PM
Wow, that was fast. Yes, "Dream Team" fabulous movie.

Well done, your go.

Jonathan Jones
October 5th, 2006, 08:17 PM
Awesome! Well okay, I'm going to throw a twist on this one because history has shown that for some reason, my posts tend to be a thread killer - like I'm the forum grim reaper or something...so basically, at this time, I'm going to refrain from posting a quote to guess in this round. I'm throwing this one up for grabs.

The first one who grabs the conch gets to post a quote.

Ready, set, go.

Nate Schmidt

Alright I'll give it a go.
"That's why I asked for out-of-town shooters. What'd I get? In-town shooters. Someone decided to hire in-town shooters. You know what else I got for my money? In-town police. In-town trouble. Who's got to get in the ring with me on this?"

Barry Gribble
October 5th, 2006, 08:50 PM
Shoot... I saw this recently... Four Brothers?

Nate Schmidt
October 5th, 2006, 10:00 PM
Man that was quick you nailed it, your go.

Barry Gribble
October 5th, 2006, 10:39 PM
I did really like that movie.

OK, "We Germans must get used to all climates, from Russia to the Sahara. But perhaps you were not referring to the weather."

Barry Gribble
October 6th, 2006, 05:20 PM
OK hint...

It is a classic movie, and almost any other quote from the movie would be an instant give-away.

Ben Winter
October 6th, 2006, 08:47 PM
Sounds like a James Bond movie. Goldeneye?

EDIT: ooh, googled it. Won't say, but I'm embarrassed I even mentioned a movie like that. :)

Michael Rowe
October 6th, 2006, 09:01 PM
Must be Casablanca.....

Barry Gribble
October 6th, 2006, 09:14 PM
Casablanca it is... your turn Michael.

Ben - good guess, really... 'cept that Golden Eye was not nearly so quotable :).

Michael Rowe
October 6th, 2006, 09:32 PM
OK, this one's kinda easy--if you've watched this movie as much as I have, that is:

"Go pelican!"

Michael Rowe
October 8th, 2006, 09:59 PM
Alrighty then.....after sifting through the many replies I'm afraid to say there were no correct guesses :-(

The character who said these words said them while sitting in a jacuzzi smoking a big ol' cigar.

Anyone?

Andy Graham
October 9th, 2006, 02:42 AM
scarface?

Andy.

Michael Rowe
October 9th, 2006, 07:02 AM

B: You taught us to ignore pain, didnt you?

A: Is it working?

B: Not really.

hint: its an action star movie-a sequel. The B guy speaking is making a come back of sorts at the end of the year with a new movie.

Andy Graham
October 11th, 2006, 02:36 PM

:)

Andy Graham
October 11th, 2006, 03:46 PM
This one is from one of my top 5 films of all time and i don't say that lightly.

----------------------------------
Girl: What are you gonna do?

Guy: What I do best. I'm gonna kill 'em. Anyone that was involved. Anybody who profited from it. Anybody who opens their eyes at me.
----------------------------------

Andy.

Kelly Goden
October 11th, 2006, 06:44 PM
I am probably wrong which is why I am taking this guess but the line sticks out from a movie I just watched recently and reminds me of this

Its not Man on Fire is it?

Andy Graham
October 11th, 2006, 07:58 PM

Michael Rowe
October 14th, 2006, 01:49 AM
From one of a handful of movies I'd take with me to a deserted island:

A: "You'll carry that stink of the streets with you the rest of your life."

B: "I like the stink of the streets, it makes me feel good. I like the smell of it. It opens up my lungs. And it gives me a hard-on."
