View Full Version : The Movie Quote Game
Jonathan Jones August 6th, 2006, 09:44 PM Sorry, I was out to lunch (so to speak) or I would have gotten this sooner. I LOVE this movie. It is called BANDITS, and these lines you post are spoken by Billy Bob Thorton who, along with Bruce Willis form a pair of crooks known as the Sleepover Bandits. They filmed some of this in a tiny sleepy little town nearby and pretty much made the talk of the town for a little while.
Great and fun movie.
-Jon
Lorinda Norton August 6th, 2006, 09:49 PM You're right, Jonathan. Every time Billy Bob Thornton opened his mouth it was a quotable, perfect line. Even when he wasn't talking his expressions cracked me up. I think he's a great actor.
Your turn! :)
Jonathan Jones August 6th, 2006, 11:20 PM Okay, well then here is a fun one from one of my very favorite movies of all time though it is a little older (late 80's)
It is very hard to choose a line since it is completely filled to the brim with quotable lines. Here is one:
X1: You mean you busted out of jail.
X2: No, ma'am. We released ourselves on our own recognizance.
X3: What my brother here means to say is that we felt the institution no longer had anything to offer us.
-Jon
Barry Gribble August 7th, 2006, 07:00 AM You are so right about that... Raising Arizona. First DVD I ever bought.
In a similar vein here's mine:
"You know... for kids!"
Charles Papert August 7th, 2006, 07:04 AM Hudsucker Proxy. I'll bet my Pulitzer on it!
"It's not what he eats, it's what's eating him that makes it--sort of interesting".
Barry Gribble August 8th, 2006, 05:27 PM Hmmm.... I love the quote, but have no guesses... any clues?
Chris Hurd August 8th, 2006, 05:36 PM Yeah Chas, clue please! Or... another quote from the same movie? I'm stumped.
Jonathan Jones August 9th, 2006, 10:18 AM Okay, I'll take a shot...but this one it totally in the dark and only based on the literal interpretation of the quote:
"What's Eating Gilbert Grape?"
-Jon
Jonathan Jones August 9th, 2006, 10:21 AM Two more long shots in a darkened room:
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the remake)
or perhaps
The Yellow Submarine
these guesses are really 'out there'...but then the quote sounds like it might be also.
-Jon
Barry Gribble August 11th, 2006, 07:07 AM I did a little cheating to check up on that... no and no...
The movie is from 1980, and Peter O'Toole says the line.
Kelly Goden August 11th, 2006, 09:27 AM That's tough. I think it could be one of two things. But which do I go with, film or history? Well given the nature of this forum I will choose film, so i say the Stunt Man
Barry Gribble August 11th, 2006, 09:54 AM You are correct... your turn.
Kelly Goden August 11th, 2006, 10:19 AM "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...And I 'm all out of bubble gum."
K. Forman August 11th, 2006, 10:21 AM Evil Dead 2!
Kelly Goden August 11th, 2006, 11:36 AM Nope! But that reminds me of another great quote from a Bruce Campbell movie.
Willis Petti August 11th, 2006, 12:01 PM That one is "They Live" and was said by Rowdy Rowdy Piper!!!
person 1: Can you fly, bobby?
person 2: Clarence...no!
Kelly Goden August 11th, 2006, 12:56 PM Any rule against answering correctly twice in the same day? :) Its one of my favorites though. Lots of good lines. I'd purchase it for alot more than a numerical value of one.
Andy Graham August 11th, 2006, 04:53 PM Robocop.

"best dollar eighty i ever spent"

K. Forman August 11th, 2006, 05:41 PM Shucks... I wasn't even prepared with a quote. So, I guess you'll get an easy one-
37? You mean I'm 37?
Andy Graham August 11th, 2006, 05:45 PM hmmm, is it BIG?
you may have me with this one if its not big
K. Forman August 11th, 2006, 05:46 PM It's a cult classic, but not a huge success in the theaters.
Andy Graham August 11th, 2006, 05:47 PM lol i meant is it the film BIG with tom hanks.... i guess not!
K. Forman August 11th, 2006, 05:49 PM No, not even close :)
Should I toss a clue, or wait a bit?
Andy Graham August 11th, 2006, 05:50 PM i think a clue is in order
Willis Petti August 15th, 2006, 06:57 PM we need a clue, i'm having fun here but it seems to have stalled.
K. Forman August 15th, 2006, 07:44 PM Part of the Jersey Trilogy, the sequel just came out 12 years later.
So I had no idea Kirasowa was a Director, I thought it was a motorcycle ;)
Barry Gribble August 16th, 2006, 03:29 AM Clerks. Now I need a few characters to meet the minimum :).
K. Forman August 16th, 2006, 06:11 AM It really was easy, wasn't it ? So I like the lowbrow ;)
Barry Gribble August 16th, 2006, 06:40 AM A: OK, a limosine that can fly. Now I have seen everything.
B: Really? Have you seen a man eat his own head?
A: No.
B: So then, you haven't seen everything.
Nate Schmidt August 16th, 2006, 07:09 PM Oh! Oh! Is it Team America World Police?
Barry Gribble August 16th, 2006, 09:08 PM Oh oh it is! I really think that I laughed more in this movie than I have in any other movie I've seen in a theater. Crazy. That was just about the only quote I could pick that didn't requiring bleeping out some crazy %$@!ing language.
Your turn.
Nate Schmidt August 16th, 2006, 09:21 PM I agree that movie was good especially the part with "Matt Damon" maybe just because I know a Matt like that, but anyway back to the game.
A: "What did he say?"
B: "He said he's standing here in the room."
Lorinda Norton August 16th, 2006, 09:36 PM Is it "The Sixth Sense?"
Nate Schmidt August 16th, 2006, 09:38 PM Nope.
Newer movie.
Kelly Goden August 17th, 2006, 12:01 PM Wild guess:
The Others?
Nate Schmidt August 17th, 2006, 01:17 PM No,
hint: It came out in 2004 and is shot mostly in HD.
K. Forman August 17th, 2006, 01:34 PM I doubt this is it, but is it Ghost?
Nate Schmidt August 17th, 2006, 01:43 PM No,
Hint #2: One of the actors is Tom C.
K. Forman August 17th, 2006, 02:01 PM Mission IMPOSSIBLE 2?
Nick Weeks August 17th, 2006, 02:05 PM It can't be... that came out in 2000
what genre?
Andy Graham August 17th, 2006, 02:05 PM Collateral? that was HD
Nate Schmidt August 17th, 2006, 02:26 PM Yeah you got it Andy excellent movie IMHO
Andy Graham August 17th, 2006, 03:18 PM Yeah I liked it aswell ,just shows you if the story is good and the acting is good you have yourself a movie no matter wot it was shot on.Anyway here's another one for ya all.
"Well, I'm not used to supposin'. I'm just a workin' man. My boss does all the supposin' - but I'll try one."
