View Full Version : The Movie Quote Game
Robert Mann Z. November 1st, 2005, 08:45 AM ok this one was tough trying to find the right line out of this movie, but here goes...
"I, uh, would like to give you this advice, a fella give me some years ago.
He said, when an argument arises if you go outside and take, uh, a nice walk you will calm down and then you can come back and it won't be an argument and you will find that helps your health all that fresh air and exercise will do you a lot of good."
Mike Teutsch November 3rd, 2005, 01:11 PM How about Napoleon Dynamite?
I'll be right back with one.
Mike
Robert Mann Z. November 3rd, 2005, 01:18 PM right, i was just about to give this clue...
"How much you want to make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?"
which of course would give it away,
my quote was from the scene of the wedding tight after the credits end...very quote-able movie
Mike Teutsch November 3rd, 2005, 01:29 PM The quote:
Person one-"What the hell are the yardbirds doing to my boat?''
Person two-"Looks like a god damn Nazi submarine!"
Probably too easy. Good luck.
Mike
Nick Vaughan November 3rd, 2005, 02:52 PM The quote:
Person one-"What the hell are the yardbirds doing to my boat?''
Person two-"Looks like a god damn Nazi submarine!"

Mike Teutsch November 3rd, 2005, 05:41 PM Is it U-571?
You got it Nick. Your turn!
Mike
Nick Vaughan November 6th, 2005, 06:31 PM Man, so sorry for the wait. Here goes:
"Every war is different, every war is the same."
Shouldn't take long.
Mike Teutsch November 6th, 2005, 06:50 PM Man, so sorry for the wait. Here goes:
"Every war is different, every war is the same."
Shouldn't take long.
Sounds like Jarhead!
Mike
Mike Teutsch November 7th, 2005, 12:48 PM I think my last guess was correct, so I'll post a new one. If I was wrong, we will have two to try and guess!
Ok!
Quote:
"You wouldn’t know about sleepin sitting up in a hospital room for two months holding her hand, because the Doctors could see in your eyes, that the terms visiting hours don’t apply to you."
Should be easy.
Good luck,
Mike
Jesse Bekas November 7th, 2005, 05:33 PM I don't wanna break the rules here, Mike, but I'm almost sure that's from Good Will Hunting.
I think we may have to wait on your answer first, though.
Mike Teutsch November 8th, 2005, 07:48 AM I don't wanna break the rules here, Mike, but I'm almost sure that's from Good Will Hunting.
I think we may have to wait on your answer first, though.
You got it Jesse!
Mike
Jesse Bekas November 10th, 2005, 09:48 PM Okay, I giess Nick's not coming back to tell us wheteher or not that was from Jarhead, so I'm just gonna go.
An easy one, but from my fave film. :)
"Everyone knows Custer died at Little Big Horn. What this book presupposes is...Maybe he didn't?
Michael Rowe November 11th, 2005, 03:25 AM Would that be from the Royal Tanenbaum's? (sp? aww heck...)
Nick Vaughan November 11th, 2005, 01:25 PM Okay, I giess Nick's not coming back to tell us wheteher or not that was from Jarhead, so I'm just gonna go.
If you look back, there's was a whole new quote after mine...
Nick Vaughan November 11th, 2005, 01:27 PM Would that be from the Royal Tanenbaum's? (sp? aww heck...)
And yes, Mr. Rowe, don't bother waiting because you're right. Only, it's Tenenbaums. ;D
Jesse Bekas November 12th, 2005, 04:08 AM And yes, Mr. Rowe, don't bother waiting because you're right. Only, it's Tenenbaums. ;D
Absolutely :)
Michael Rowe November 14th, 2005, 08:46 AM Sorry for the delay in getting back with a quote, folks....here ya go:
"The mill's closed, there's no more work, we're destitute. I've got no option but to sell you all for scientific experiments."
Florian Stronski November 14th, 2005, 08:58 AM The mill's closed. There's no more work.
We're destitute. [Children sigh despondently]
Come in my little loves.
I've got no option but to sell you all for scientific experiments.
>Monty Python's: THE MEANING OF LIFE<
Florian Stronski November 14th, 2005, 09:03 AM And a new one:
"You space bastard! You killed my pine!"
Philip Boyer November 14th, 2005, 02:37 PM Star Trek, First Contact?
Robert Mann Z. November 14th, 2005, 02:38 PM And a new one:
"You space bastard! You killed my pine!"

Florian Stronski November 14th, 2005, 02:46 PM No. Sorry.
Dimitri De Keukelaere November 14th, 2005, 02:56 PM superman :P
James Bridges November 14th, 2005, 03:08 PM That's from Back to the Future. The farmer says this after Mcfly escapes from the barn. The farmers children think he is an alien. I own the trilogy. It's one of my embarrassing pleasure purchases. Here's one. Probably too easy.
"There's our number on the back. And pray you never need to call us."
Robert Mann Z. November 14th, 2005, 05:21 PM ghost busters
James Bridges November 14th, 2005, 10:56 PM Nope. Think different genre. Same decade though.
Brian Doyle November 15th, 2005, 12:06 AM Lost boys....
Great line.
James Bridges November 15th, 2005, 08:14 AM Yeah, Great Movie!
Nick Vaughan November 20th, 2005, 08:07 PM Alright. Enough's enough.
Here's the next quote:
"If you die first, I am definitely going to eat you, but the question is, if I die, what are you going to do? Bon appétit... Eat or die."
There. Thus ends the stagnation.
Brian Doyle November 20th, 2005, 09:18 PM this is a shot in the dark...
Is it "alive"?
Brian Doyle November 20th, 2005, 09:22 PM For my lost boy call....
CHAR 1: There's a lot of statues in Europe you haven't bought yet.
CHAR 2: You can't blame me. They've been making statues for some two thousand years, and I've only been collecting for five.
James Bridges November 20th, 2005, 11:19 PM Talk about lost. Can't figure that one out. Is it from Blood Lust?
Brian Doyle November 20th, 2005, 11:55 PM Is that for me or Nick... Not right for mine.
Dimitri De Keukelaere November 21st, 2005, 11:47 AM citizen kane !!
James Bridges November 21st, 2005, 11:50 AM Ah crap! It is Citizen Can. I own that freakin movie! I was lost.
James Bridges November 21st, 2005, 11:51 AM Kane..........
Chris Hurd November 21st, 2005, 03:35 PM citizen kane !!Your turn, Dimitri!
Dimitri De Keukelaere November 21st, 2005, 03:54 PM ok here it goes :-)
"I am NOT a human being, I am an animal!"

Mathieu Ghekiere November 21st, 2005, 03:54 PM The Pinguin in Batman Returns
Dimitri De Keukelaere November 21st, 2005, 03:57 PM nope wrong
Dimitri De Keukelaere November 21st, 2005, 03:58 PM ok just fooling arround :D
your turn mathieu :p
James Bridges November 21st, 2005, 03:59 PM Easy one:
The Elephant Man
James Bridges November 21st, 2005, 04:00 PM Oh jease. Got mixed around.
Mathieu Ghekiere November 21st, 2005, 04:09 PM Saw the movie yesterday evening, so :-)
Okay, here goes (I suck at this game, I always make them too easy):
X 1 (Man): What do you do?
X2 (Woman): Why do you care?
X1: I don't. I was just making polite conversation.
X2: I'd rather not discuss what I do.
X1: You know, I think I understand what you're like now. You're very beautiful and you think men are only interested in you because you're beautiful, but you want them to be interested in you because you're you. The problem is, aside from all that beauty, you're not very interesting. You're rude, you're hostile, you're sullen, you're withdrawn. I know you want someone to look past all that at the real person underneath but the only reason anyone would bother to look past all that is because you're beautful. Ironic, isn't it? In an odd way you're your own problem.
X2: Sorry. Wrong line. I am not taken aback by your keen insight and suddenly challenged by you.
Mathieu Ghekiere November 24th, 2005, 12:30 PM Nobody can take a guess?
Jonathan Jones November 24th, 2005, 12:44 PM Yeah, sorry, I hadn't checked the forum lately, but this one is good ole Jack....from "Wolf". I have to admit, this one almost got me..because I KNEW IT WAS JACK, he kept popping into my mind as I read the quote...but the first thing to come to mind was "As good as it gets", but the roles were reversed for the tone of the lines (although not the speaking style)...I had a brain fart....but then it struck me. I haven't seen Wolf in a long time, and it resides somewhat below the horizon in terms of what Jack Nicholson is recognized for, but still a pretty cool movie with some great dialogue and good performances.
-Jon
Mathieu Ghekiere November 24th, 2005, 12:49 PM Congratulations John! You guessed it correct!
Yeah, I haven't seen it in a while too, but I bought it on dvd a couple of days ago (still haven't rewatched it) and when I guessed the other quote, it was the first film to come up in my mind.
Your turn!
Jonathan Jones November 24th, 2005, 01:06 PM Okay, here's one, but I'm going to keep it brief since surrounding dialoge gives it away too much.
X1 "I'm puttin' on your favorite Scooby Doo bedsheets."
X2 "ha ha (laughter) ....Scooby Dooby Doo! ha ha"
Go for it..it's pretty simple although many of you folks probably haven't seen this one - or would admit to it.
-Jon
Brian Doyle November 26th, 2005, 06:20 PM I'm guessing the answer to mathieu's quote is In the Company of Men.
Barry Gribble July 27th, 2006, 09:30 AM About a year ago Dylan ran a movie quote game... let's try to get that ball rolling again...
Here are the rules:
1. Someone posts a quote from a movie that people may have seen and hopefully remember.
2. Someone else guesses what movie it is from.
3. The original poster confirms that guess is correct.
4. The winner posts the next quote.
Remember the goal is not to post something that no one will get, the goal is to post something people will enjoy straining to successfully remember.
If you guess a movie and you are 100% sure you are right (like the quote was "hast la vista, baby") then you can go ahead and post your next quote.
If you post a quote and no one has gotten it in a day, post a clue or two.
If someone guesses and the original poster does not give the right/wrong in 24 hours, the first guesser gets to assume the throne and post the next quote.
====================
With no further ado... my inaugural quote, and one of my favorite line deliveries of all time:
"Did anything about that seem unusual to you?"
Good luck.
