Has anyone used the FX in vegas to create a fisheye effect? I'm thinking the Pinch Punch effect, but thought I'd see what others have done.

Jeff, I've used Spherize for this in the past (which is to all intents and purposes Pinch & Punch without the Pinch!), but now I would use NewBlue's Fish Eye from VE4. It looks more realistic and 'lens-like' than Sony's plugin, plus you can affect the whole frame, whereas Spherize doesn't affect the edge of the frame beyond (roughly) the title safe zone. The only way Spherize scores higher is in the fact that you can adjust horizontal and vertical distortion independenly or proportionally.

Are you thinking of producing a skateboard video?!

Of course if you REALLY want to simplify things, there's the "Fish Eye" effect in NewBlue's Video Essentials IV...

Thanks guys. No skateboard video, Ian. You make me laugh. I want to simulate fisheye for wedding video stuff.

It's a boring, overused effect that I generally cannot stand to see in wedding videos. And brides love it, probably for the very reasons I hate it.

Anyway, NewBlue, eh? I hoped they would have something. I'll give it a look-see.

My preferred in-camera fish eye is now courtesy of my wonderful little GoPro Hero HD camera which has a VERY wide angle and gives superb quality footage (with the right light, that is). I bought it for some in-cockpit footage of an aerobatics team but I use it all the time now in the corporate stuff as well - very handy for candid shots, hidden on store shelves, attached to light fittings etc. Lots of fun!

Curse you Ian. CURSE YOU I SAY! I checked out gopro and now I MUST have this camera.

This is your fault, and now you must pay for camera and send it to me. I'll pay for shipping just let me know how much.
