Sadly, the web site says it is the standalone plus the plug-in. I ordered it, paid for it, downloaded the software, but the standalone refused to accept the serial number, only the plug-in did.

I then called Digital Juice. They asked me to email them so they can pass the information on to ProDAD. But, until they resolve it, the deal is not what the DJ web site says it is. :(

Just purchased it myself, I received all the download links in my Email for the full stand alone version as well as the plug-in versions ...Will see if they install with the included license on my Vegas 10 and Pinnacle 14 software, plus I will try to install the stand-alone version as well tonight after work..will keep you posted.

Apparently, my problem was just some coincidence. Digital Juice forwarded my email to ProDAD who has promptly issued me a new serial number, and that one works. I'm a happy camper. This is a very good deal, indeed.

Just sent a Email to Prodad about the same problem, ad-on's installed without a hitch, stand alone version would not accept license key, hope they send me a fix as well very soon...

I ordered, paid for and received a licence key but the email with the key did not contain the link to download the software. Would anyone be able to post that for me?

Unfortunately, the customer service is closed for the weekend and I couldn't find anything on their customer forums that helped.

thanks!

I did a quick test (using only John's tutorial for my training) with some shaky footage of mine (EX3 with a 35 mm adapter and a prime telephoto lens) using this plug-in in 64-bit Vegas 10.0c on Windows 7 Ultimate. I did it at 1080p 24/1.001 fps. You can see it at YouTube - Mercalli 2.0 plug-in for Sony Vegas 10.0c Test (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ2CF3gpHEg). Please make sure to watch it in full screen and to select 1080p.

Pro Dad did a promo with Vegas 10 when it first came out for $174.00 now they are under cutting that just to piss off their old customers. All I hope is they aren't going out of business. There upgrades and fixes are few and far between as is.

Maybe they believe in doing it right from the start and not needing any upgrades or fixes?

Well, they didn't get it all right, cause I have the same failure on the stand alone installation.

I was talking about the software itself, not the whatever serial number generator they gave Digital Juice.

I have the same problem so, like Adam, I'll be sending an email today and hope to get a new working serial number.
The Vegas version works just fine so hopefully it's just a minor glitch.

Kind of off topic, does anyone know if ProDAD lets you install it on multiple computers like we can with Vegas?

As is well known, no one ever reads the license agreements, so I had to search the web and could not find the answer. Finally, I opened the Mercalli help file. Under "General Information" is a link to a page called "Copyright". And about one third down that page, it states:

The present product may only be installed on one computer.

So, my guess is the answer is no.

Don't! :) My remark about no one reading the agreement was aimed at myself: Not having read it at install time, I had to go through hoops to find the answer.

I have Mercali Pro V2 Stand alone as well as the Vegas and Pinnacle Plug-ins Installed on both my Desktop PC as well as my Laptop..No issues during installation with the provided license....I believe they allow you the to install it on more than one machine since lots of us work on our projects from our desktop as well as on the go using a Laptop..

I purchased the Mercalli,

In the past I always bought the disc version.

I received the key from DJ.

do I down load a demo and then put in the Key? Or does prodad send me a link?

I tried the Demo way but can't find where to enter the key!! I must be impaired?

thanks

Oh yea, I want to use it in edius too, is that possible

Dale, DJ will send you an email with several links in it.

Download links are for Apple Final Cut Pro & Adobe Premier Pro CS5 Mac, Windows 32-bit NLE, Windows 64-bit NLE Plug-ins (Premier Pro CS5 & Vegas Pro 9/10), Unlocked Pinnacle Studio 14 and Mercalli V2 Pro SAL Standalone Application for Windows only.

Sorry but no Edius so you'll have to use the Standalone version for it.

Clicking on the link downloads a very small exe which you run to download and install Mercali on your computer.

The standalone link installs Mercali as a separate app.

I had to get them (ProDAD, not DJ) to send me new serial numbers as the first set didn't work but ProDAD U.S. (Charlie Fulton) was very quick to respond.

I went to the links and the only download are the Demos, I downloaded but can not figure out where and how place the key to get them out of Demo mode. I went to help and the directions there seem to be if you download from a disc.

how did you guys do it?? I must be thick!!???

Dale, here's the (almost) exact email I got from DJ once I ordered Mercali.
Hopefully you got the same thing.
As said, I clicked on the appropriate link, downloaded the small exe file, ran that, Mercali downloaded and installed and then asked me for my serial number.
I entered that and I was up and running.

Mike,

Thanks again.

My links just do not work, however I used your links with the new password and now have everything downloaded properly.

I saved a copy of your links with my password to be future proof.

Prodad service was exceptional, just the links which did not work for me, go figure; and, they checked the links before they sent them the second time. Must be this computer!!

I have found mercalli to be a very useful tool, now with the rolling shutter thing it will be even more so!!

I am shooting an ice skating event tomarrow evening with the sony so the rolling shutter fix will be well tested!!!

I took the plunge and got it. The license key provided by DJ did NOT work for the standalone version, so I called ProDad and got a live person who responded immediately with an e-mail providing the key. Nice.

After trying 2.0 on a range of footage, I think it's just about as 'magic' a plugin as NeatVideo. Wow. I can't believe how nice some of my footage looks after stabilization. 2.0 generally works better than whatever Vegas 10.0 came with. I also used BCC7's optical stabilizer, but that takes a lot of manual work to get anywhere close to what Mercalli does almost automatically.

One of my favorite settings is "Rock Steady Tripod" for shots that are obviously intended to be still. Rock steady is exactly what happens. A downside for me results from my (almost) exclusive shooting in 24p (1/48 shutter): a shaky camera (or subject) can introduce motion blur, which introduces artifacts into the stabilized footage: odd little twitters on fast moving portions of the subject. Higher shutter speed should eliminate the artifacts, or else I live at 1/48 with a slightly less stabilized clip to compensate.

$0.02,
Steve

Good evening,

I have been with mercalli for quite some time. I used it often, pro version.

My first efforts were to apply the rolling shutter fix. Two times the computer seized up. I cut clip size down and ran it again. After being exported I could not see a signicant difference.

Can only have a first impression once.

I will experiment more with settings. I have a project that must be done before I can spend time on this. I had hoped to use it on the project, not this time for certain.

I wonder why a rolling shutter is ever installed????

I recently went from Vegas Pro 8 to Vegas Pro 10 and was excited about having stabilization from Mercali built in. We had just started fooling around with the Vegas Pro 10 stabilization and were impressed with how well it worked but did not like how much it affected the framing of the shots.

I had read that Mercali's updated v2 of the sotfware was much better so I took the plunge and bought it with this half off sale. My partner has used it on one project so far and is very impressed. She showed me one shot where there was a bad "stumble" in a panning shot and Mercali v2 completely smoothed that out.

We have not had a reason to try out the rolling shutter fix but am glad we have it since we shoot with a CMOS camera. I may even be brave enough to shoot at 24p again if this really will fix the "jello" effect.

A very useful software package and worth the money in my opinion.
