Sammy's is closing out their GH1's and selling them allegedly below their costs for $399. I bought one yesterday since I needed a second body and am tired of waiting for the GH2 I have on order.
The body somehow feels more solid than the GH2 and the menus seem more intuitive as well-- though they're very similar to the GH2's.
I don't think mine is hackable -- but you can still get those new, contrary to popular belief, for about $550. I'd rather save $ and also am not anxious to deal with the hack, which sounds difficult and has a less than perfect implementation.
Anyhow, it plays nicely on the same Vegas timeline with GH2 footage. There's no HDMI monitoring, or the clip warning, lower bitrate, no ETC mode, and generally fewer bells and whistles. But it gives a nice picture and is a great back up or B cam for the GH2. For $399 pretty hard to go wrong.
