Rather than connecting the camera to the computer via USB, can the SD card from the camera be removed and inserted in the SD slot on the computer and import the content to the computer from the SD card using the CMU?

Yes. That's my normal work flow. When you run CMU it may not go directly to the import screen, but once you select the "Import Media Files" option, you should see an icon on the top left of the screen for the SD/MMS card. From there it's just like importing by USB, but it should be much faster.

I was able to plug the NX5U SD card into my iMac and upload video the first time I tried it.

However, ever since that first time the SD card is not recognized by the iMac. I now have to use the USB cable from the camera to the iMac.

I would like to get back to the direct SD card to iMac upload if possible. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kevin

Does your iMac recognise other cards in the slot?

Surely this is not just an issue with the cards from your NX5 - Maybe throw one of the cards into your stills camera, take a few, then have another go!

Any ideas?I download SDHC NX5U cards, minimum 40 to 50 times a day. It works all the time (99,999%), for those that it did not work (three time at most), I've removed and reinserted the card in the MacBook Pro SD slot and it worked as a charm.

Kevin, I supposed that when you had this problem, you did a shut down waited for 40 seconds and turn it back on ! IT is IT, and sometimes weird behaviors occurs, a quick to fix the problem is to do a proper shut down and wait a little bit before restarting the computer.

If you still have the same problem, do you have an AppleCare and did you call Technical Support ?
