I wanted to get some new movements out there on my videos. I used one of my light stands with a head on top and used it as a camera jib. I was pretty impressed with how fluid the motion was (for just being a light stand). Not sure if this is an old trick or not... But I thought it was cool. Oh well

very nice work Steve. How about a behind the scenes shot of your jib/stand

Thanks for checking it out... Ken, the setup is a little ridiculous looking... but really easy. all you need is a way to mount your camera to the top (head), piece of an shirt (and a little bit of wd-40 seemed to help). Hoist your camera to the top, wrap the shirt around the base of the third tier**, loosed the locking nut, and let gravity do the rest.

Also depending on where the center of gravity is for your camera you'll get a slight slow turn on the way down. For me if it's front end heavy it'll turn left, and visa versa.

** put one wrap around the pole, and grab the two ends with your hands.. pull to create the tension to set the drag thats needed.

lol! this is great stuff steven! I would never thought of using light stand and a piece of clothing can turn into a nice fluid jib! You are super creative and innovative!

too bad it can only come down :P
