There's so many technical terms and such, I'd like to propose a glossary sricky that everyone on the forum can have immediate accesss to.
As an example, I'm at a loss to explain things like Bayer sensor, or people new to the field might not know the difference between a CMOS and a CCD.
More examples - what's a micro 4/3? RAW? Aliasing? 4:4:4? Apple Pro Rez? FCP? Luminence? Cache recording? The list goes on...
A sticky that would only be accessible by the moderators can be constantly updated with new terms and abbreviations and technology. All alphabetically listed, of course.

Are you volunteering to help maintain it, Glen? Heh.
I think it's a great idea and we have a very big collective brain-trust
of highly knowledgeable folks around here who could be coerced
into its maintenance and upkeep. It's been brought up before both
here on the forum and privately by email and yes I'm all for the idea.
Primarily it's a matter of the mechanism. We're not going to do the
"wiki" route as I really don't like the layout or look of those things.
We'll have to find something that can integrate well with the existing
structure of the site that plugs in relatively easily. Thanks for
bringing it up,

The irony for me is that for anything I don't know what the term means, I do a Google search for it and might even wind up reading an article on Wikipedia itself.
If we do have a special section for a glossary, it would be neat to have it internally searchable. That would be useful.

Hey Chris,
If i did end up making a glossary, it'd look like this:
HD - really sharp video.
SD - not so sharp video.
P2 - expensive video cards.
HDV - kinda affordable HD video.
CCD - Charge Coupled Device, some kinda chip, or something.
CMOS - another kinda chip.
Lens - goes on the front of the camera. Don't use sandpaper, even really fine grain sandpaper, to wipe it clean.
Tape - archaic form of video capture. Not to be confused with Duct Tape, which is better than its weight in gold.
Scarlet - no one really knows.
Vaporware - see above.
And that's pretty much the extent of my video knowledge!

We're not going to do the "wiki" route... Yeah, you don't want a sticky wiki. That would be tricky. And potentially icky.
