I have an Intel Core 2 6700 overclocked to 3.2 GHz with 6 GB of memory. 64 bit WIndows 7 OS. Vegas 10 Pro.
Is that sufficient to edit AVCHD?

( the extra helps to speed things up with larger projects, but generally is not necessary ) AVCHD editing is very smooth with my i7 processor, much more so than my previous Intel Quad 6600 CPU. Here's a Tom's Hardware video benchmark using Premiere CS5 that will give you some idea of how the different Intel processors compare when editing video with Premiere CS5: Tom's Hardware Video Editing Benchmark: Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 (http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/desktop-cpu-charts-2010/Video-Editing-Adobe-Premiere-Pro-CS5,Marque_fbrandx14,2428.html) I imagine that using your current 6700 processor might be a bit on the slow side, but definitely do-able if you are willing to be patient. Otherwise I would look at upgrading to the new Intel "Sandy Bridge" CPUs once the current SATA bug has been fixed. ( should be sorted out by March ) "Sandy Bridge" CPUs are very cheap and very powerful. Stephen Sobel February 2nd, 2011, 05:34 PM Thanks! I do agree, the Sandy Bridge CPUs definitely are worth a look. Denny Lajeunesse February 5th, 2011, 07:20 PM Editing multi stream AVCHD RT in edius with i7 920 and 6GB ram.
