View Full Version : Automatic Rack Focus?

Is there a way to have the zoom "stop" at a specific mark?
When I rack focus and that I have the opportunity to rehearse the shot, I can see the value of the zoom on the LCD - usually 2 digit number -
But it's not always easy to rack focus and stop exactly where you want so is there a way to make this "automatic" by entering the zoom value... somewhere?
(I know that I could use the touch screen to change the focus area, but it's not as precise and not always possible)
Thanks

This was a feature that I really missed from my Sony days - the HMC40/41 just doesn't have a shot transition feature like this.

I can sort of manage a rack focus by watching the focus meter values carefully, but it's a bit hit and miss.

Yeah, this is what I have been doing but it's messy like you said if you need a pretty fast and accurate focus... Oh well, there are reasons why we didn't pay $2500 or more for this camera.
