It's my understanding that current camcorder focusing systems will work with linear polarizer filters. Has anyone used a linear polarizer with the NX5U?

What's the consensus on which type polarizer is best for this camera?

What brands do you recommend?

I don't know that cam but both types will work on all my DV cams.

Polarisors are good for cancelling reflections in glass windows and water but you might consider polarisors are designed for still cameras, on a video camera, soon as you pan you'll lose your polarised effect.

I use B+W, tho Hoya and Tiffen are good. HTH.

Circular polarisors are designed to work with cameras (mainly SLRs) that employ beam-splitting prisms in the optical system so should not be necessary on your NX5 - just a lot more expensive than the linear variety.

There's lots of good brands out there but the dearest are best because they're neutral to colours and they come multi-coated. I'm constantly amazed at how few are. A front element of a 16 element lens and it's not even coated? Who thought that one up?
