hi all
i need to dub from a PAL DVD Region 2 to DV file to edit in FCP
im not having luck with doing this in handbrake...its ripping and then the file is unrecognizable. i assume this is the case because of it being PAL or Region 2 or both...?
thoughts? advice? much appreciated...

Depends on what the DVD is all about, it might have some copyright restriction. Can you TV view it via an all region player? Try it in a computer, there maybe some other program you can rip it with. Take it to a local shop. HTH

Is this a copyright disc?
I can't see any reason why a non copyright disc would have a region code on it, to be frank.
If it's a copyright disc, soliciting on DVinfo for workarounds will get you a smack in very short order, and I do suggest that until that question has been answered, nobody else chimes in with their favourite ripping info as they will probably get a smack as well.
Just my HO.

Marc has contacted me and everything's kosher.
Fire at will guys, it's not really my area of expertise.
Good luck, Marc.

Copyright and region setting are totally separate; you can have either one, both, or none.
But why would you do it in HandBrake? That will re-encode your video. Simply explore (or whatever you call it on your Mac) the disc as any drive, and copy the .vob files to the hard drive. From there, open them in your editor.
