Does the FX-1 have a counter, either digital or analog, that records the
amount of time that has either been recorded or played on the camera? Some sellers are claiming "1 hour use" for the HDV cams, and I'm trying to verify their claims. Thanks.

Hey Dan,
I assume they do. My Panny DVX-100A has hours logged in one of the menu settings so the HD surely would have that. Ask them to take a digital photo of the LCD and provide a link or e-mail? I've seen this done on ebay with hour counters on decks.
Hope this helps.

Dan,
The top right of the viewfinder/LCD screen will display time recorded and tape time left over.
If you mean a counter that will log the total time that the heads have been used since the camera was new, then, no, the FX1 doesn't have this facility, but the Z1 does...

As Robin said, I don't think the FX1 has this feature but the Z1 does. This fits Sony's pattern of making the hour meter accessible on their pro cameras but not the consumer versions (PD-170 and PDX-10 have the meter but the VX-2100 and HC-1000 don't).
However there's a Sony remote control which plugs into the LANC jack that can read the data which is stored internally in the camera. I don't know for sure that this works on the FX1, but I suspect it does. See this post for info on how to get one:
