I would like to extreme slow motion, some short shots in a small project under way at present. I want to go the Twistor route rather than 1280 x 720 @85P in order the preserve as much apparent resolution as I can, also to achieve a slower apparent playback speed.

I downloaded the Twixtor demo and installed it. It shows up in the available effects, can be drawn across to the selected clip on the timeline and the effect controls can be found and adjusted. Something begins to happen because the demo watermark appears on the timeline monitor screen.

However upon any attempt to create a preview or export, the progress bar gets about as far as 0.1% and no furthur, stalls Premiere, which then has to be closed brutally with no project save happening as would with old PP2 when things went pear-shaped.

Has anyone been able to get Twixtor, CS5 and Neo4K to cohabit peacefully. I don't think it is a cineform issue as CS5 with XDCAM EX footage also does not render or export.

Any advice would be grreatly appreciated.

We use Twixtor in AE CS5 with Cineform installed all the time without issue. Are you trying to use it in Premiere, because the results should be far better in most cases by using it in After Effects.

Mike.

Thanks for replying. I am trying to use it in Premiere CS5. After-Effects is both outside of my budget and skill set. I am primarily a shortsighted and partially colorblind writer who can swing a camera.

When using Twixtor in Premiere you have to fake out Premiere because it can't on its own create the lengthing of the footage correctly... go to youtube and search for the tutorials... one way I have seen it is to use the color bar footage ...

Thanks for that. I'll look it up.

Thanks again for the link to YouTube. The workaround seems fine with the demo verson and at 2048 x 1152 too..

how is the slo mo working out for you bob?

I'm in the same predicament with the si2k.
I want to shoot at least 85fps, but at 2K, not at 720p.

So far so good with the demo version. One of the workarounds for Premiere is to lengthen the overall clip with something junk like a colour bars or black and drag it out to the approximate end of where your extended time period will end. You render the sequence.

The render will still truncate short of extended running time of the entire shot but the shorter wanted footage will be all rendered longer plus a bit of junk, which is easily identifiable and can be trimmed in the second sequence.

There are limits however.

My test of a prison officer and prisoner's feet walking along with camera dollied behind is not soo good. because of detailed pattern in the vinyl floor. Sections of the vinyl seem to go like plasticine and drag along in big areas. Where it will work best is probably smaller objects moving within a static frame, not as easily for entire movements across a frame like pans, tilts, dolly tracks and follows.

I'll have another go at it and post the results.
