Trying to figure out my HPX370 with the instruction manual in front of me and I can't seem to get the Variable Frame Rate feature to work. This is the same as under or over cranking right?

I got it to work once, when I first got the camera but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I must be missing something very basic.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

First you need to be in 720p mode as over and under cranking is only availiable in that format then look in the scene file menu and you can then change the VFR frame rate there.

You can also change it with the camera buttons. From what I remember you press the Menu wheel then use the Synchro Scan buttons to go + or -, that's how it is on the Varicam and I seem to remember it's the same of the 370. You also have to have VFR turned on in the menus (you can also assign this to one of the Assign buttons).

Yes, it's in 720p mode, I can adjust the frame rate in the menu as well as with the synchro scan buttons and menu wheel, so far so good. The problem is when I play back the footage, either in camera or exported to FCP, the video is at normal speed.

This is quite frustrating.

The footage looks like the shutter speed has been changed rather than the frame rate.

It needs to be in 720 PN mode to play back slow motion.

Thanks Steve! It worked using PN mode.
