Trying to send SMPTE TC into the 5D via a Denecke Dcode SBT. Can hear the TC when recording, but 5D won't read it. Any firmware for this or anything I'm missing? Camera Recording @ 23.93 and sending same TC to 5D. Have read that Magic Lantern were working on this, but haven't seen anything new or anything that mentions TC @ 23.98. Have latest firmware on 5D, 2.0.8

If you put the timecode in as an audio track you may be able to play it back into a tc reader (decoder) and have it translate - we do this to the zoom when making transcription tapes.
But the 5D doesn't have a timecode reader built in, no way does it know that weird sound is actually time slipping by.
Before PluralEyes that was the holy grail, now it is just another compromise made when shooting with a dslr.

Thanks Denis, that is what I was afraid of.

Bobby,

With the 5DM2 we record TC onto Channel 1 and a mono mix on Channel 2. We then use VideoTool shed's FCP auxTC reader for the TC. VideoToolShed - FCP auxTC reader (http://www.videotoolshed.com/product/26/fcp-auxtc-reader)
