Hey all,
What do you guys use for a rod adapter? The spacing is weird, and honestly its the only thing i don't like about the camera. I know that Zacuto, Vocas and Chroziel have some, but thats a hell of a price. Any suggestions?

Hi,
you can buy this one from CAVISION for 80$:
Cavision Rods System Plate for JVC HM-700 (http://www.cavision.com/rods/RSPJ700.htm)
also available at AMAZON
or this one from DVCITY:
V-Mounting Plate with 15mm Rods For Sony Cam (http://www.dvcity.com/dvshop/V-Mounting-Plate-with-15mm-Rods-For-Sony-Cam.html)
This plate is for the base mount for Sony etc. I´d buy these, yesterday, i´ll take a look, how can i modify these.

Yeah, there's the cavision option, but I'd rather not. As for the DVcity one, I don't think it will work, that base plate has to replace the current mount thats on the camera. The problem is that the screws dont match with anything else.

Wanting to solve several issues with sun glare, flair and the wish to start using 4x4 filters, I found the fit, finish and install of the Zaguto Zephyr700 on my GY-HM700U along with a Petroff 4x4 Two-Stage Matte-box to be quite nice, although a bit pricey. Top quality.
My HM700U has the 14X Canon lens, and I also have the Z-Wing, but the supplied 6.5" 15mm rods left me with a 1" gap between the lens and Matte-box. You would need 5.5" rods to accommodate both the Zepher700, Z-Wing, & Matte-box using the 14X Canon lens. I have 5.5" rods on the way.
I also have plans to do primes in the future, so this just is the early stages of my build.
See Pictures.
