one of the features I like about the Z1 is that you can simply roll down or up and determine the shutter speed in small increments...very gradual and usable

this way you can get nice effects with slow(ish) shutter, while I find that the slow shutter in the EX1r is just....too much -- all or nothing

I mean..it becomes quite difficult to use handheld for example

anyone knows why this is so different? (and no...I am not talking about slow-mo)
there doesn't seem to be half-way

I have EX1. SLS mode has a range of 2 to 8 and EX Slow Shutter adds 16, 32, 64. It's never "all or nothing."

I don't understand what the problem is. Why would anyone use slow shutter for hand-held shooting except in some very rare dream/drunk/stoned footage? How can 2 frames be too slow?

you are right.
I was actually missing the fact that you can get it up to 2 frames

I just think the way it works on the Z1 is a bit more direct

thanks

sometimes I shoot traffic scenes by night on the go with a slower shutter to get some trail effects
