Hi Folks,
I've been trying out XDCam transfer to encode .mxf files from the Canon to .mov but I have a lot of problems with audio and lip syncing. Has anyone tried this?

No, I haven't tried it because it's not necessary with XF files.
Do you mind if I ask why you are using Sony's XDCAM Transfer instead of following the recommended workflow for rewrapping Canon MXF files to MOV?

When I log and transfer there is no problem at all. But the other day I copied the folders from the camera to my HDD, initialized the card and rushed off to another assignment.
When I wanted to start editing, FCP wouldn't recognise the .mxf files, So I converted using the XDCam transfer application, worked great except for the audio issue.
Next time I will log-and-transfer, but how will I import archived mxf files back into FCP?

As you already know, the problem is that you haven't followed the right workflow so you've ended up with a mess on your hands. I wish I had an easy answer but it is almost impossible to recreate the same situation without much more information about exactly what you did with the files and what shape they are in now.
When you say "I copied the folders from the camera to my HDD" what exactly does that mean? What folders did you transfer? Did you move the whole "CONTENTS" folder all at once, or did you move the individual folders inside of it?
I suspect that you didn't move the "CONTENTS" folder, becuase if you had transferred the whole "CONTENTS" folder it would have been just as easy to import into FCP as if the folder was still sitting on the CF card.
What exactly do you have sitting on your HDD right this minute? What files & folders and how are they nested? Hopefully you're not just staring at a bunch of loose MXF files.
