I have seen these laser pointers for adjusting the wheels on the PS-Technik & Omni-Tracker skater dolly, and the PS one has an up and down laster tilt adjustment whereas the Omni-Tracker does not, so how necessary really is a laser pointer for setup for just simple work, not Hollywood big paid gig type of work?

you can find laser pointer as cheap key ring for less than 2$.

True, but then I have to make something to hold it to the wheel holder and I hate making anything without a lathe and mill.

The anwser lies in the question whether you can make the right circle without the pointers.
The pointers just help to pinpoint the center of the circle.
Do your shots need to be this perfect?
Do you have time for trial and error when adjusting the wheels?
Can you afford it? (Or make a cheaper solution?)
I recently got a Hague Mini Table Dolly (a very simpel 'version' of the mini skaterdolly) and it takes some time to get the wheels in the right angle without pointers.

Well, I know the PS Technik skater also has an up and down pitch adjustment capability. I can't tell if the Omni-Tracker has that on their laser aiming thing.
