Hello All,

I am filming an outdoor furniture shoot in Beverley Hills this Wednesday and was wondering if you guys could offer some settings or preset suggestions. My good friend uses a Z1 and his images always seem to pop more then mine. I am looking for vivid color and good close up detail. Any suggestions form your outdoor shooting experience would be greatly appreciated. The weather calls for sunny sky's. All shooting should be in direct sunlight.

Thanks for your time.

Michael

1. Panavision Preset

Cine gamma: 2
Knee: Low
Black: Medium
Ped: -8
Setup: -5
Sharpness: 2
HDF: Medium
CMX: 1
CGN: -15
R:14
G:15
B:16

I use this as my sunny day preset. If a setting isn't listed, just leave it be. For an example of what it looks like, check out the pool scenes or anything on the slider (this wasn't a serious project in case you were wondering).

In this case I'd try VIVIDRGB, making sure you light the closeups well .. try reflectors from the sunlight.

It's good to have 3 or 4 custom presets, get to know which one works for certain scenes and light. Try shooting tests with each CP on the same scene and view them on different screens. Use a tripod. To choose your 3 or 4 check out the forum and the CP threads here.

Cheers.

Try and shoot at Magic hour or even just avoid the middle of the day, add motion into your shots with a dolly / slider / crane etc
