The 16mm is actually pretty fast at 2.8

here is some night footage, shot I think from a nex-5

YouTube - Murphy B Good plays midnight Corralejo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okRcA1t4ud8)

and also

As a side-note this lens has been underrated by dpreview and photozone for stills---or so some very experienced people say.

This might be the first 'extra' lens to get if you have a VG10.

BTW the nex-5 sells with both the 18-55 and the 16 for 100 off.

best to all

Looks like some macro-blocking of the street surface in the second clip, but overall decent low-light performance. What's your assessment of the low-light results compared to other video cameras you've owned?

Hi Kevin

I use the sony PD170 and vx2k, which as you know, is basically the low light king, though not HD of course.

With a fast lens it could be beat, but not with kit lens, that's for sure. Maybe the 16 can come close but I would have to shoot some events before I could really say.

Even the sony the PD starts to grain when I shoot dancing.

I hate lights, but sometimes use a very small one made for vx2k hot shoe
