is it possible to modify the metadata info to change the resolution of a clip so it doesn't require rendering?
In FL, you can scale up, but not down.

If the metadata could be altered in the clip would it be possible to edit multi-resolution clips within FCP?

I think we do have a hack for that. But you will have to ask support on Monday as it is a Mac thing.
