G'day

For the benefit of dumb Aussies like me, can someone explain to me what the significance of "Black Friday" is? I've seen lots of advertising with "Black Friday" sales happening but have no idea what it's all about.

Cheers

Russ

I don't know the original "significance" of the day, but it's the day after Thanksgiving and is for some reason a big sale day.

Maybe it's called Black Friday 'cause black is all you see after you're trampled into unconsciousness during shopping madness?

Shopping Day, just in case you forgot!

Or partying day (when you're broke afterwards)

Thanks,

I knew about the Australian bushfires version of black Friday. It was the reference to Black Friday (Shopping) that explained it.

Essentially it's just a ploy by retailers to get some bucks out of you. Our equivalent here in Oz are the post-Christmas sales.

Thanks again.
