I am looking for a small and light camera to use in places were no regular cameras can fit and I believe that this is going to be much better than the HD Hero GoPro I was considering in the first place. Especialy in low light.
Has anyone tried it yet?
My other option would be the Canon S95 but the Panasonic shoots in 25p in PAL land and it will mix easier with my other cameras that also shoot 25p.

I just got one of these and have not had a chance yet to experiment with the video side of things, but one thing I will say is that the low light performance of this camera for stills is amazing given the size and price.

I was considering getting the wide-angle adapter for it as well, but it is actually shoots very wide as-is.

I believe the 35mm equiv is 24mm wide open, and f2.0!

Great still camera, but will report back on the video aspect.

looking forward to hear your thoughts. Some low light footage would be welcome too.

i had given an LX3 to my fiancee; it was a great little camera. i did play with an LX5 but not long enough with the video mode; it does pretty well in low light however.

The DMC-LX5 will record HD in either AVCHD or Motion JPEG.

Which format is preferable if it's going to be edited in FCE or iMovie, and burned to dvd or uploaded to Youtube?
