Just bought the new LILLIPUT HD70HP 7'' LCD On Camera HD Field Monitor w/ HDMI & Component YPbPr for my Sony Z5 - free shipping!!.
Best thing is the monitor can be powered by my F970 camera batteries - they provide the bracket FREE.

Ordered the sunhood and 7"arrticulating arm plus a few leads for US$330.

Went and looked at Marshall with HDSDI plus arm and petrol bag/hood for $2000, but just for a client view it seemed a bit rich.

Despite the HD tag it is still only has a resolution of 800×480 like the other little Lilliput monitors. It's $100 more than the already excellent Lilliput 669GL-70NP/C but adds component input & according to the specs is much brighter than the already very bright 669GL (400cd/㎡ vs. 250cd/㎡)

Yeah I noticed the tag for HD "support" rather than display but it's mainly for clients to see framing and lighting indoors. Outside I use the eyepiece and playback to clients if they want - which generally they dont.
What I did like was the fact that unlike the 668 with an internal battery and 669 with external batteries plus velcro, this monitor runs off the F970 batts I use so i can quick charge,swap and don't need an AC charger.
I just hope the monitor is as good for the price as people say.

It really is fantastically good value for the money.

I just double-checked & the monitor I have is the higher power version of the 669GL at 450cd/㎡

Thx nigel e coThe 869 is 8" while confusingly the 669 is 7". I have never seen an 869 but the 669 was a little cheaper & I figured that 7" was enough. It's not the size but what you do with it that matters:-)

Received the package today...wow! quick and the monitor display is fantastic...BUT...it is just a 668GL reconfigured and I notice the price had dropped $30 over the weekend as well...so, could've done better, but the free shipping to Australia sold me. Monitor sits really well on the camera on it's articulated 7" arm (don't recommend the 11") and the menu allows for plenty of tweaking.
A similar articulated manfrotto arm goes for around $200.

I would say they are geared to the non-broadcast market - ie corporate, web media and event coverage for video such as HDV, AVCHD and DSLR previewing and focus.
Once you get into broadcast standards and start looking at Marshall and Sony the prices start around $1000. There are intermediate brands such as the Ikan range which are probably suited for both.
It depends on how critical you need the display to be. If it's just for framing and focus and general external work - the Lilliput is fine. If colour temperature, pedestal and contrast have to be 100% accurate for lets say, a TV commercial, I would recommend a bigger mainstream monitor and a bigger wallet.
There's no need for overkill on non-broadcast - you should be able to trust your camera settings and use the monitor as a back-up display.

I think they were aimed initially at the in car entertainment market.

I finally got around to ordering a lilliput 669 and battery a couple of weeks ago. The retailer was out of stock for batteries, and suggested I got the 668 which was made for HD and came with a smaller internal battery which should keep me going while waiting for the bigger ones to come in.

The unit arrived and works nicely with the pocket-sized Canon Legria. But the other connectors are only BNC and the cables that came with my Canon and Sony A1s are all RCA. So, until I can get adaptors (I'm out in the sticks, and don't want to risk getting the wrong things by mail order - have had too much experience of that lately) I can't try it out with a proper camera.

I have purchased a lot of BNC to RCA adapters here in the States. They are like these:

They work for me.

Of course the example I linked is overpriced. I paid a lot less for mine so I would shop around. Do you have a Radio Shack near you?
