Can i use Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 with my Canon 5D mark II?

i heard it will give problems since 5D has a full frame sensor, and Tokina comes with a ACS sensor?

i'm really confused, i don;t want to end up buying the wrong lens for my 5D.

i like to bye Tokina coz of its ultra wide angle capabilities.

The Tokina does not come with a sensor but is made for the APS-C sized sensors like the 7D so it will not work on the larger sized sensor of the 5D MkII. I don't think Tokina makes a lense to fit the 5D MkII.

This lens is made for APSC sized sensor, like 7D, 60d, T2i, When used on these bodies, you get an equivalent field of view of 17- 25mm. On the 5d, you have much better options for wide angles; the 17-40, the 16-35, the fabulous 14mm...

Do you mean a wide angle zoom? Try the Canon 16-35 f2.8 L lens. On the 5D that 16mm is pretty wide.

Tokina does have a new full frame lens, a 16-28. Probably cheaper than the Canon, but no filter threads.

I use the 17-40 L f4 lens an awful lot. I'd like to upgrade to the 16-35 f2.8, but it is considerably more expensive. The 17-40 is very wide, and quite affordable. It's just a little slow (ok, a LOT slow), though I don't hesitate to increase the ISO to 2500 regularly on the 5d2, and all the way to 6400 if I have to.

If you buy a good used one, you can use it till you can afford a 16-35 f2.8, and then sell the 17-40 as they are a good popular lens (I read somewhere that it was Canon's best selling lens).

Yep, I'll second Bill here -- the 16-35 f/2.8 L is a terrific lens (and one of the lenses I've used the most next to the 70-200 f/2.8). If discouraged by its fairly high purchasing price, I suggest that you look into a used one of its predecessor, the 17-35 f/2.8 L. I initially got one of those, and I'm still very happy with it -- a true workhorse of my lens arsenal.

Just a quick addition to the discussion: the Tokina 11-16 does work on a 5DII. You'll need to stay at the longer lengths (about 15mm+) to avoid vignetting.
